I tried 2 different flashlights with the same bulb size. They were AA lights, not C or D, but it powers them OK.

The problem is the LED part is much lower than the filament is in a regular bulb. In both lights, which were not adjustable focus, the beem was a completely flooded pattern, instead of a narrow focus with the incandescent bulb. I expected it wouldn't be perfect, but the result is like having no reflector at all. Too bad, because I was hoping it was a cheap way to turn any $1 light into a decent LED.

I can't find my large Mag lite to test it with an adjustable light.

Thanks for that link to your write up. 1/2 a year back I upgraded my 3D to a Xenon bulb with great sucess.

I am looking to buy the 2D LED version for my car as it only has a mini mag any info on one of those. I am not worried at the cost of batteries but when things go wrong then the long life is appreciated.

10 years on a set of batteries is longer than I have lived in Botswana.

I too was quite disappointed with the Nite eyez conversions , for some reason I was expecting a hail of clean , white light.
Seriously I have a single AA Chi-Com LED that puts out a better flood than my 3 D cell Mag with conversion and fresh Duracells.

I've got the conversion LEDs for a 3C, 2D, and 3D Maglights, all work great. Real nice clean white(little bit blue but not at all bad), bright as all get out, still zoom just fine. Nice little upgrade, no doubt.

Nice review Maximus.
