Nite Ize Doohickey Clipkey - New-ish cheap keychain tool

I've been looking for a compact keychain tool. This one has been on the Nite Ize site for a while, but it has just become available to purchase and doesn't seem to be available from most of the usual vendors. (One vendor had the black version.) I want the stainless so I can sharpen the edge without losing the finish, and I'm too cheap to pay $9 to mail a $5 item, so I'll have to wait until it becomes more widely available.

Somewhat different from the Doohickey Key Tool, which a number of forum members own.

The width of the driver makes more sense to me on the ClipKey, and the serrated edge has potential to sharpen without having the sharp edge on an exposed / pressure edge.

Would you really want something with those sharp edges floating around in your pocket ?
You assume that everyone puts their keys in there pockets. I keep my keys hook to my belt loop.

In this case, having that tool attached is just fine. I do agree that I wouldn't want it in my pocket.

For years I have wondered about the practice of hanging keys on a belt loop. It seems they would be vulnerable to being snagged, stolen or in some other way subject to loss by that arrangement. Maybe I worry the matter too much, but I think my pocket is a much more secure carrying space than a belt loop. Am I overthinking this?

For me, I've never wanted the bulk of my keychain in my pocket. I've been carrying that way since I've needed keys, etc on my person. Knock on wood, never an issue with loss or theft.

Good question, but I think I might. Usually a loose pocket or a coat pocket for my car keys - so not a tight pocket with pressure. And I'm not thinking razor sharp. But it's something to consider and keep in mind.

I do a combination of both. I don't like having the bulk of the keyring in my pocket sitting in there. So I use a carabiner to hook the keyring o a belt loop, then just tuck the hanging keyring into the pocket where it's kept more secure and does not flop around. The weight is supported by the belt loop, but it's still semi out of sight tucked into the pocket top.

I too carry my keys hanging from a belt loop (or other attachment method if belt loops are fragile) and have done so for 40 plus years. The only issue has been an occasional bent key.

I think the Tiger's Tooth might be more what you're looking for. Google it.
Interesting idea, thanks.

But it doesn't seem to have the pry bar / driver feature - the end isn't tapered. Not that it likely works all that well on the Clipkey, but worth having. Amazon reviews say the bottle opener is on backward, you don't hold it from the keychain end. And all the laser etching would bug me.
