I have a nitecore AA, unfotunately the battery leaked and corroded the insides somewhat, which I think I could fix, but the piston push button is jammed. Any ideas on how to unjam it?

you will probably have to remove the pill and clean it with a solvent, but I'm certainly no expert on the Piston Drive. you should make a post over on the candlepowerforums many of the guys over there have more experience with this sort of thing. here is a link that discusses how to disassemble the D10, maybe it will help.

Good luck!

I had a display light that I used to keep in water so customers could see that it was waterproof. I didn't notice when he did it, but a customer took it out and unscrewed the head to look at the seal, then dropped it back in the water. Unfortunately, he did not screw the head all the way back over the o-ring, so water got in the battery tube and caused the battery to leak before I noticed several hours later. The battery fused itself to the inside wall of the battery tube, and I couldn't get it out even after putting it in a vise and smacking it with a hammer (with eye protection on :D ).

I had another customer send back a light where he used crappy alkalines and they leaked and fused the tailcap to the battery tube. Again, I couldn't get it off when it was in a vise and I was using pliers.

Moral of the story is that leaky alkalines will make metal parts fuse to each other. If you can manage to get them apart, they can be so corroded that you will have to sand and polish everything to make them slide properly.
