Nitpicking a Kbar Becker thing

I have a thing about the handles. Why do they ALL have the less attractive hex nut showing up on the exposed side? Any thoughts on this? I would like to look at smooth things instead of hex nuts

I would suspect it is simply a cost thing, more than anything else.

Sure, a Loveless/Chicago bolt LOOKS nicer, but is somewhat more expensive than a plain ol' nut.

I don't mind it at all. I don't look at my Beckers as aesthetic works of art. The simple nut and bolt set up makes it super-easy to remove the grips for replacement or cleaning. And the way the nut is recessed into the nut-shaped scale cutout allows for easy tightening and re-assembly without fancy tools. And if you ever lose a nut or bolt for whatever reason, chances are any small-town hardware store has a nut and bolt that will fit. I don't see many corby or Chicago bolts in most hardware stores.

I did however, change to stainless hardware on most of my Beckers:

That’s what I love about the Beckers, so functional yet so utilitarian. Perfect platform to modify.

That’s the kind of detail you dont even notice until its too late to change and frankly not worth the effort to change.

Plus its perfect for lefties. Or righties carrying cross draw
