Nitre Blue a blade for me

I have a Damascus blade that I would like Nitre Blued, and polished...

I have been doing some research, and was going to attempt it myself, but I figured I’d post here to see if someone with experience would do it for me.

I’d love to contract you to blue my blade. Specifically, it is a Microtech Combat Troodon.

The secret is to polish first, then blue. Polishing after bluing just takes the color off. Nitre bluing is not that difficult.

Sorry for the post in the wrong section...

I’d love to do it myself, but I have zero equipment, and don’t want to completely ruin the blade.

Anyone have recommendations for someone to do this?

Is this knife going to be a user or show knife?

If you’re looking for that bright peacock blue, then the temperature involved will likely ruin your heat treat.

I’ve nitre blued a lot of gun parts over the years, but nitre blue is primarily limited to non stressed parts like safeties, screws, bands, etc.

Polish first, then blue. I use molten salts for consistent temperature, but an oven can be used if it will reach a high enough temp. A propane torch can also be used, but on a knife blade you will likely end up with a splotchy finish due to inconsistent temperature along the blade.

If I can answer anymore questions, please let me know.

**DISCLAIMER**

I am not offering a service. I don’t want to nitre blue a blade...for anyone.
