I've seen the knife laws for NJ, but it doesn't really state anything specific so I have 2 questions. What is the legal blade length that you could carry for a folder. Is it legal to carry fixed blades and if so what blade length for these? I would appreciate the help just so I don't get caught unaware.

Minors are restricted to knives with 5" blades, 10" overall length. No other blade length restrictions exist. Folders and fixed blades are legal. Knives are subject to reasonable carry and use.

ive checked NJ knife laws and i didnt see anything that would suggest that a five inch blade would be legal. like most things in New Jersey, it is mostly up to the discretion of the authorities. Fixed blades are illegal from what i just read and knives over three inches are likely to be confiscated. If you look like the status quo, the chances are you will be spared. Or if you have done the mandatory bribing required to obtain a PBA card.

In some North Jersey cities knives are completely illegal unless you can prove it is required for your job. but again, you wont be harassed if your wearing white-collar clothing.
