Could someone help explain/clarify nj knife laws. I read somewhere that as long as you have an explainable lawful purpose for owning said knives they are legal (with the exception of switchblades, daggers, etc.). I intend on using the bk2 for camping purposes, the bk14 as an everyday utility knife and the esee 5 (which i do not currently own...yet) as a backup for my bk2. am i breaking any laws whatsoever with my intended purposes? does this mean i can only have knives with me during my intended purpose and never in the trunk of my car at any other time?

also, I was looking into getting the esee junglas and the kabar kukri for yardwork/camping/etc. I guess these should only stay in the shed?

thanks everyone.

I read that as well but I guess I am looking for something I may have missed specifically concerning the fixed blade bk14 as I would like to edc it (if it is even possible or to just leave in the glove compartment of my car).

I just left a pretty detailed description in the NJ Knife Laws sub forum linked above. I hope it will help. I'm not a lawyer so I can't give legal advise I'm just sharing my interpretation of the laws through my training and experience.
