The first photo is the knife generously donated by Bark River Knife & Tool Co. The next shot is our ever-efficient waitress, Nichole, as she picks the winning ticket. The third shot is Nichole handing the winning ticket to our "Faceless" Ticket Seller (his initials are K.V.C.). And finally we see our proud winner, Pete holding his latest addition to his collection.

That's a great knife Mike Stewart donated, and congratulations to Pete as the lucky winner. Pete turned around and donated a Spydie of his own as a giveaway (Julian won it!) :D

There you go... those lucky 1st timers have all the luck! Congrats again Pete and many thanks to Mike Stewart... much appreciated!

Pete's a good guy.
As I recall a firstimer also won the knife way back when Al Polkowski donated one for a drawing.

He had them covered up -- didn't want to scare all the guests.
He should have worn a mask then. :p ;) :D

Love the Kiwi! Thank you Pete!

Also thanks to Mike Stewart, (he added to my Spydie collection!). But now I feel the need to get another Bark River:) Does it ever stop? I hope not;)

Oh and let me say how glad I am to be part of such a fine group. Now I know why I moved to Jersey!

I've been doing a bit of thinking. Yes yes, I know, i might injure myself etc. etc ...

My wife has been trying to convince me that I should accompany her when she goes to the US to visit her mother in California. The very last thing I want to do is visit her crazy as a loon mother soooooooooooooo... I had this idea. Maybe I should arrange it so that we're in the US during one of your little get togethers. This way she can visit the mother, I can jump on a plane and go and see something interesting. Nothing may come of this but just supposing iI can pull it off, where would I need to stay in order to be near your meeting place? What is the name of the nearest city/town/suburb/whatever to your meeting place and what would be the closest airport to that? This way I can work out costs and times and so on.

LOL - On my motorcycle, I liked Pa. best.
I should have been there in Dec. !

Well well well, as they say. I just spent a few interesting minutes at the travel agents. It will cost around $AU4000 for the wife and me to get the flying kangaroo to San Francisco. I asked what it would cost me to fly from there to New Jersey and back. I can get a flight for only $AU250. This is a lot cheaper than I thought and puts a quick visit well within the realms of possibility.

You guys might be lucky enough to buy me a beer this time next year. :)

I visited Sydney back in 1974. Flew from Newark Airport in NJ to San Francisco, CA; then out to Hawaii; from there to Nandi (in the middle of nowhere) & then on to Oz. All of that for around $1500 US. Does Quantas still take that route? You show up & I'm sure you'll be bending your arm with beers! :D

Qantas flights are pretty much all non stop from Sydney to SF now days. Other airlines have stopovers in various strange places.

BTW, Qantas doesn't have a U in it. In fact it really should be written QANTAS since it's an acronym.

Try another visit, you'll find good old Sydney town has changed just a tad in the last 30 years! :)

You know... I spelled it Qantas at first & it just didn't look right! :D Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Ltd; I must remember that. I'd love to visit Sydney again! I'm sure it has changed after 30 years! (Has it been that long? YIKES!) The offer still stands... you show up at one of the meetings & your beer is free & I'll even pay for your meal!

A generous offer Clyde and great incentive to get myself over there. :)

If you do decide to visit Sydney again make sure you let me know. I'll come collect you and show you a bit of country Oz and shout you a beer or three at the local village pub.

gaj,

If you do decide to visit, it looks like Gary has your beer and lunch covered! I may be able to help you with lodging. I work about one mile from the Steak & Ale, and our company gets 'Corporate Rates" on hotels in the area, and there are quite a few! This is a very "Corporate Area", although you wouldn't guess it from where we hold our meetings.

If you can make this work, to get away for a couple, three days, let me know. I'll check with my Corporate Travel Center, and get you the best rates available. There's a Sheraton, that's only about 1/2 mile away from the S&A, but they're not the cheapest. There are many Hotels & Motels in the area.

Do you plan on renting a car, while you're visiting? I don't know If I can help there, but I can always check. If you plan on visiting NYC while you're in the area, the Metro Park Train Station is right across the street from where I work. Getting to NYC is pretty cheap, it just gets expensive once you get there!

If your idea pans out, please keep me updated on your plans. Maybe we can arrange for a NJKCA Fiels Trip to NYC? At any rate, I'll try to help you out, anyway I can!!

Your Friend From "Up Over"

Ken
