I could not help myself !
Took the knife out and cut wood with it .. & It's a strong cutter .
Then stropped it & the next day ( Today ) went out and sliced rope .
450 slice fail .. Edge did not roll . Sharpened full scandi ( no micro bevel ) .. This is after cutting wood .. ( Only leather stropped a little ) .
I am in no way disappointed with a 450 fail .
Resharpened VIA carboard stropping .. ( I do like doing things differently )
Edge was 80grit , and then cleaned up with 320 grit .. ( 80 grit diamond just removes more material - but leaves deep groves behind - which can take several re sharpening's to remove )
Anyways , I am happy with this knife . Yeah , the color is a little ! But it's different ! ( Different can be good - or bad )
Spine of the blade scrapes wood really well . Gives you really finely shaved scrapings ..
Also throws ferro - not horribly ! It is directional ! & the ferro rod is getting a little FUBAR .
Overall , I would say a worth while project .
1) The factory edge was ........ in a word - Rubbish !
2) I would suggest a factory finished blade , it's worth the extra $10 bananas .
3) Tasmanian Pine might not make for good looking grips , but they feel good ! & When I give Gorilla grip , there is some give in the wood ! ( Gorilla grip )
4) Finishing / gripping a blade your self , can be rewarding and satisfying .
