Nkonka - is that a new one?

This is an outstanding knife. I had the chance to see it when down there. The picture and description can not do it justice.

The Nkonka is new this year - we showed the first prototypes at the Blade Show in June. Unfortunately, promotion of the knife has been a bit eclipsed by the Green Beret/Yarborough project!

We were slow in getting the information up on our website - it was only posted yesteday - but it is a great knife and I know we are going to do really well with it!

Ha! That's why - I wasn't imagining things after all. Well, it has a superb profile. I'm not convinced with the accesory kit, but the knife itself is absolutely magnificient, and looks like a great back up weapon.

The new Nkonka page on the CRK website is quite well done and informative. At the bottom of the page is a sentence that piqued my interest - "At present, the 7.5" Nkonka is made from A2, heat treated to 55-57RC.". Does this indicate a change to another blade steel? If so, can the change be anticipated in the short term and will the change be to S30V?

A very nice design made in a useful size. For the anticipated use of this knife, I think I prefer A2 over a powdered metal.

I saw the brochure for this knife 3 or 4 months ago and I thought it looked amazing. Hmmmmm I hope someone reviews it pretty soon....I'm dying to know what this fine piece of work is capable of!!!

Say, is there any way to purchase that nifty screwdriver set by itself? It would sure look good in the handle of my Mark VI (provided it fits, of course...).

Many thanks,
Fedaykin

Fedaykin,

I believe Chris said that the Nkonka was hollowed out to the limit to make way for the kit. Won't fit the other one piece line knives.

You'd have to check with him to be sure, of course.

Thanks for the info. It's a shame it won't fit. I suppose I could rig something up with the pieces from my Benchmade Blue Box... :D.

Take care,
Fedaykin

We have about 100 blanks for Nkonkas made from 3V that will be available soon. At this time, we don't plan a complete changeover of material.

The tool kit doesn't fit the other one piece knives - sorry!

Tanto style blade? Eh?

It is slightly like a classic 'Tanto' but more a large clip point if you ask me!

Stunning blade...
