I've learned that there is a new serialized series of Nkonka's in CPM3V available at a bit higher price ($445) than the standard A2 Nkonka's. My question is how many of the serialized versions will be produced? Also is CPM3V going to be an option in all of the one-piece range?

Thanks!
Scott

If they follow the proto route that they did with the original Nkonka they will only do 20 of them. Many of the other "limited" runs have been 50 knives however. Guess I'll have to think about getting rid of one of my A2 Prototypes and getting a CPM3V to go with it now ;) Since they destroyed one of the 20 there were only actually 19, but 2 Nkonka safe queens in A2 doesn't make as much sense as one of each steel:rolleyes:

The 3V Nkonkas are a special edition, not a limited edition, meaning that there will be no limit to the number of knives. They are offered as an option and are a great opportunity to test 3V in a very tough knife. The other one piece knives are not available in 3V.

Anne, so I take it that one only has to phone in to order one of the 3V Nkonkas?

Can you comment on the differences between the Nkonka and the Sable blade geometry? I ask because the Sable II is long out of production and the Nkonka seems to be the closest alternative. I know that the Nk has a 16" hollow grind, which I like because it's closer to a flat grind (compared to the standard 8"), and the spine facets will facilitate using the weak hand to guide slicing cuts. Is there anything else that I'm missing?

The Nkonka blade is a little thicker than the Sable II used to be and the knife is overall a bit larger. Otherwise, you have the nuts and bolt of the nuances. Of course, there is the difference in the cross guard and the Nkonka has the screwdriver kit in the handle.

I'm curious, what is the blade thickness on the Nkonka?
Just received the 7" camo Sable (the factory booboo discussed in another thread) from Neil at TNK today and it has a 1/4" spine. Was the Sable II 3/16"? The Nkonka being wider than 1/4" seems unlikely for a 7.5" long blade.
