Hello everyone!

I am fortunate enough to me able to use a laptop and a useable wireless signal to bring a post of some solid substance to you today. We have been on vacation for a week now, and our destination is Albuquerque, NM.

The southwest has held a dear spot in my heart for quite a while. Many a summer was spent going around the area with Grandma Ruth, who lived in Missouri, which typically meant a nine hour car ride from the Chicago suburbs to visit her at home. These trips were special, as I got either a long car ride, or a plane to St. Louis to meet her there and then jump on a plane and head to my Aunt's in AZ. It was always a lengthy chain of events to get there, and as a kid, it hardly bothered me.

I can honestly say, the hour and twenty wait at security in Logan was less than a pleasurable experience, but my mind's eye was on the destination. Everything here brings me back to my trips with my Grandmother, and all the wonder that the varied terrain can bring out in me. I am out in the "Land of Enchantment" with Samantha, my girlfriend, and her Mother. We have been busy with shops and the like, but I was very excited when we got to drive up the east side of Sandia, to the peak of roughly 10,500'. We then headed along the North Crest Trail for a few hours. It was spectacular. The Aspens are on full display, bright yellow amongst all the evergreens that coat the slopes. Sandia is a real treat, it's topography is such that the west side of the mountain is nearly vertical it's entire length, giving amazing views of the city and beyond, while the east side is more sloping, allowing for more growth of both plants and animals. Ravens were slope soaring their territory, and "graww-k-k-kk"-ing and making an almost "coo" vocalization from time to time. We saw two falcons, which we were not able to identify. As I walk through the woods I am always intrigued by all little things, especially the textures and the colors that nature has along the way. That is the bulk of the pictures I took and am sharing today.
