NMFBM edge grinds??

Hello fellow " Where does all my money go " BUSSEHOGS. Question? It looks from the B-site pics that the MMFBM LE has the convex edge ground, and that the standard ones are the usual V-ground edges.

Whatta you all think??

Keep on cuttin from the cutterman.

Nope. Just like the SAR5's, the convex is there, just hard to see b/c of hte coating.

There might be a bit of loss b/c they have to grind that coating off at the end, but it shoudl be mostly convex. You can re-convex it pretty quick as some have done here. For $400, how much work are you willing to do? ;)

Wait, I don't quite follow.

It seems to me that both the LE and the CG have convex grinds. But, did Jerry not say that only the LE has a convex zero-edge, which, I suppose, means there's no secondary bevel, just a full convex grind? If so, doesn't that mean that the CG will have a secondary bevel or rather edge that isn't convex, probably a flat one, or perhaps a secondary convex bevel which would be very strange indeed. Anyone know?

My guess is that the CG has a standard V-edge.

I would think it'll have the usual convex edge grind. Most do, no matter what the main grind is.

Sorry for the newbie question, and I'm not trying to threadjack, but some of you have said convex, and then one guy said the edge is a V grind. If I were to sharpen it, should I follow the technique of convex sharpening, or use something like an EdgePro, and what angle then?

The edgepro only does a V grind.
To do a convex you need a belt sander, or a mousepad and sandpaper set up.

The cg nmfbm has a convex main gind, but the edge bevel is more of a V,

The NMFBM LE has no edge bevel, it's zero edge, meaning the main grind is the edge, very cool.
You can convert the CG to this style....

It wasn't much work at all to "blend" a convex final edge to the convex grind. Now it should cut as well as the LE, although it's not quite as pretty.
