Hey everyone!

I was just wondering which is a better chopper, the NMFBM or the ASHBM?

I've owned the ASHBM and it was a beast
(considering buying another but with G10 handles) but am wondering how it would compare to a NMFBM...if anyone has used/owns/owned both please chime in!

Thanks!

Both are Beasts, I prefer the NMFBM because of the Fusion Handle-Both are supreme choppers!!!

In my opinion and in experience with chopping ASHBM < NMFBM < MOABOLO < MOAB. All of them are great knives though.

I'd agree with you,, but if its LegalEagle's NMFBM,,, I'd put it ahead of the MOABOLO, that things a BEAST!
No wonder he calls it a 'hand held chainsaw'

I'd rather have 1 of each before 2 of either any day. But only 1 I'd probably keep the NMFBM. They feel a lot different.

Both are fantastic blades ---- the ASHBM is faster, lighter, and FFG. The NMFBM is longer, heavier, taller blade height, and it's either Flat Saber or Convexed.

I kept the NMFBM because I needed a more dedicated chopper. It really depends on your need or want. Every Busse knife fills a specific niche.

The NMFBM is heavier? I thought it would be lighter cause it's .250" thick and the ASHBM is .312"

Beautiful knife by the way! That edge is seriously next level

I always liked how the ASHBM handle fit my large mitts so well. Very comfy I tell you what.

My hands didn't completely fill out the handle so i always found myself sliding back a bit and getting some "pinkie bite". It was nothing major by any means, never even blistered, but slightly annoying. Great knife though, love the full flat grind on it!

Not sure on the weight, mine is approximately .276 thick, the blade on the NMFBM is a half inch longer and maybe a quarter to half inch or so wider than the ASHBM-Because of the Fusion Handles it seems more substantial-Sold my ASHBM's-Both are Dedicated Choppers-Really comes down to handle preference in my opinion-Cheers

The ASHBM is the evolution of the idea of a LB SHBM. There is a good bit of metal removed from under the scales.

Really? Thanks for the info, i thought it was a normal full tang with no LB treatment. That must be why the NMFBM is heavier (also because of the extra blade and handle length)!

It has round holes all the way through, not like the light brigade design it was originally imagined with.

The straight handle on my battle saw was hard on my pinky, kind of ruined the knife for me. I haven't used NMFBM but I think it will be more comfortable than anything straight handled.

I think Jerry mentioned the new SHE had through holes in the tang to lighten it up. I hope the BME will as well.

haven't owned either...but id take the nmfbm in a heartbeat!! I just like the fusion handle and pretty much EVERYTHING about the nmfbm..

Prefer the look of the NMFBM (or FBM) but the feel of the ASHBM. The latest version of the straight handle is the One ... for me.
