Brother and Sister HOGs,

I have a couple of NMFSH LEs and one CG. Believe it or not, I own #1 and #2 LE (:D) ... and yet I .... (drumroll) ... actually prefer the CG, which is Double Cut with Black Micarta -- what a fricken' great combo!

No, I'm not willing to trade the #1 for a CG! ;)

After owning the LEs for a few weeks, I asked Lexi and Pokey if Garth might consider smoothing or trimming the CG handle, which I thought was a little large for my fairly small paws. I just received the CG today (pics are in order, I know) and was pleased to discover that the machined handles were smoother than the machined handle of my ASH-1 CG with Micarta. But I was also surprised to discover that the CG handles were actually thicker than the NMFSHLE handles -- and equally surprised to learn that the CG feels better in my hands than the LE!

For those of you that own the LE and a Micarta CG:
Is the handle on your CG somewhat smooth or is it typical of machined Mags and kind of sharp edged?
Which handle (or knife for that matter) do you prefer -- the LE or the CG?
If you ordered a couple of LEs or CGs, which is your favorite?

Thanks and best to you all in the New Year -- John

Interesting. One thing I made note of in the NMFSH pic thread is that the double-cut CG models were bead-blasted after the handle scales were attached, thus giving them a slightly smoother finish. This can be seen if you look closely at the fastener tubes on the DC; they're bead-blasted too (on mine at least). Look closely at the picture below and carefully note the handles between the two:

See how the top handles are shinier, and how they have more defined looking edges between the colors and in the machined wavy grooves? If you look closely, you can even see the texture of the glass fiber in the G10 on the top one. However, the lower ones are more satiny and "softened" looking due to the bead-blast. I don't know if DC is always done this way, but it sure gives the G10 a unique finish!

All the Doublecut I've owned has also been blasted after the slabs were attached. That black/yellow w/tanker looks great btw!

Got mine yesterday.Black blade with black canvas micarta and I think you right.Side by side with my LE the canvas micarta is definately smoother. Clearly less definition to the machined scales.Still has a positive grip though.

I can't believe no one has posted pics of my favored combo yet!! Pictures to come when the Busse Combat shipping department stops drinking :p
