So the reason I am interested in your opinions between these two is similar blade length and height (thickness). I would love to get my hands on a FFBM but I don't see them for sale too often. Anyone had their hands on both? Which one do you prefer and why?

I wish I could give you good info on a comparison but, I can't. I will say I love my NMFBM and I assume your NMFSH is the same with a shorter blade. I'd love to have my BM with a 5 or 6" blade... I'm working on a proto for fun. :)

I have them both, and my preference is the NMFSH.....it just balances better in the hand, it is very lively for a blade this big and they are available now. The FFBM is an awsome blade as well, but the handling characteristics of the NMFSH bring it to the top for an easy win in my opinion.

Fat Fusion for me

What's your intended use?

I don't have the NMFSH, tho I wish I did as I prefer the meltdown treatment, which is why the NMSFNO is my go-to blade.

The NMFSH with the meltdown would look to be the more 'user-friendly' bigger blade, tho at 10" its getting into Battle Mistress territory (I would have like to see 'em w/ an 8" blade myself).

That being said, if you looking for the toughest chopper, I think the FFBM with its sabre grind is going to get the nod of the two, and over most anything this side of a MOAB or Gladius.

Just my $.02 worth.

I have to say that the NMFSH ousted my nmsfnole. The NMFSH is heavier, but it eventually felt that with the NMSFNOLE I either needed a bigger knife, or a smaller one and since I had a boss jack, I went bigger. I don't have a FFBM but what I do have is a FFFBM that would be more of a comparison with the NMFSH.

FFFBM-10" Flat Grind, .320", Pumpkin G-10, Black Crinkle coat
NMFSH-9.5" Flat Grind, .320", Black Micarta, Black Crinkle coat

I used my wife's crochet needles to run through the hilts to show the example of what I'm talking about and using them to keep the hilt some what aligned.

Pic #1, Pommel view is one of the best cause it shows the Block form of the G-10 vs the EXCELLENT rounding on the Micarta. Busse Shop I think over time has realized the comfort in the rounded shoulders of the hilts.

Pic #2, Again you can see the roundness of the hilt shoulders. Also, with the crochet needle in the talon hole notch that the FFFBM sage down more therefore showing the FFFBM is slightly heavier. ***(IMHO not enough to make a difference)

Pic #3, Shows the tip is 1/2" longer and of coarse the blades distinct shape difference of a Clip to a Drop point

Pic #4, Finally you can see the choil size difference.

Personally I love my FFFBM, this one I haven't used but I really like them. BUT I have to say I feel that If I'm going out to swing a knife for a while this NMFSM is going to be hard to beat in the Micarta line (I am not talking RES-C)... The overall comfort, wielding etc The NM Line, NMFBM, NMFSH and the NMSFNO are going to be hard to beat in the use department.

RussMo,
Excellent comparison, very nice, great pics too ! Now I feel the need to hunt for a FFFBM ! :)

I prefer the rounded hand-shaped micarta scales to the blockier machine cut G10.
