NMFSH sheath options

Hi Gang,

Looking to score a NMFSH in the ganzaa tonight. Not wanting to count my chickens before they hatch but what options are out there for a sheath for one of these bad boys? Is there anything out there that would fit these without getting a custom made sheath? Not that I mind but I don't really like the idea of having to give my precious knife up for a couple of weeks to send it out to the sheathmaker.
 
You may find most of the sheath makers, here on the forum, already have some of these knives and are planning on getting some of the Ganza knives this evening. I know my email is ready!! Bring IT!!
 
check exchange. The NMFSH LE has been out awhile and it should work for the cg- atleast with a BBDC finish. The coating might make it a little tighter but should be real close.

Same thing here, I hate knives without sheaths and wouldnt like having one around again without it. Is there anything from SpecOps that would work? I loved it when Busse offered the SpecOps as an option along with my TGLB. Guys, keep that in mind, some of us just love having a practical sheath that saves us a lot of time/money wasting.

I also have a NMFSH LE to use to make sheaths with for a while also so if they fit it would be the same,.................... but if history is any indicator they will not.
 
Sounds like atleast a few of the kydex benders will be ready to supply sheaths for those who are lucky enough to score one. Good luck in the ganza.

Not to knock down the other sheath makers here, but put me down for a Mashed Cat for a NMFSH.
 
I have the NMFSHLE and put in for the CG last night.

can someone explain differences between leather and kydex sheaths? DO knifes really rust inside leather more? I know its not an issue with infi, just asking in general..

To answer your question amdmaxx, it depends on the quality of the leather used. Cheap leather is not well tanned or taken care of during the process, thus it will have a better chance of retaining the tanning solution. The tanning solutions used vary wildly as well, urea is not uncommon in cheap leathers tanned south of the border. They arent rinsed well either.

In short, make sure your maker uses top quality leathers, its more expensive yes, but well worth it for your expensive knives.

Any sheath, including kydex, will rust your knife if not cared for properly. Never put a wet knife in your sheath, never put a dirty knife in your sheath. Care and maintenance are very important for both knife and sheath. I have high carbon knives stored in their sheaths, long term, but I always clean and dry them, oil is a good idea as well.
