Hey folks I thought I would make a small video series with these two blades and the hawk. This is just for fun, Im no expert but I will do my best to come up with fair tests and give you my opinion on each. Please feel free to chime in, suggest, etc.

To start things off here is a short video doing some quick chopping on some really tough wood. Sorry about the litte effect on the side, Ill make sure its not there for the next vid.

Next Ill probably try to find some decent wood to split, until then I hope you enjoy this one!

The wood looks a lot like Hackberry. I have one in the back yard, not a good wood for chopping.

Thanks folks, next video will most likely be on either splitting or dismantling smaller branches.

Yea I wont be using that wood for chopping anymore, my whacks were bouncing right off.

If it is Hackberry the bouncing off is something I noticed too.It seems like a hard wood but tends to compress and cause a blade to bounce back in stead of letting it get a good bite.

According to wiki it could very well be Hackberry since it occupies central and southern North America. Looks like there are quite a few different species of it but Im sure it behaves similarly.

Took a trip into nature today and took the knives with me, wasn't able to snap a vid because it was too dark but I got you guys some pics.

Have more testing planned for the trio in the future so wont give any opinions yet. Hope you guys enjoy, I sure did! :)

chopping hard seasoned wood sucks lol. good video and pictures.

also I don't think that is hackberry. I'll go chop on some tomorrow and let you know. I got it sitting on the wood pile seasoning up. it usually has a very distinct bark. I guess there could be a couple types but here is a link to what all the hackberry around here looks like

The trunk on mine looks something like that but the smaller limbs say up to about 12 in across have a smoother bark. I need to get the rest of it down. Nasty thing, there are a new aphid that have invaded around here that love Hackberry. They bite tiny holes in the underside of the leaves so they leak a dirty gray sap all summer.
