While waiting on the Cupidganzaa I got my NMSFNO out to play along with a few other knives. I did some chopping, batoning, general wood work etc.
Some thoughts: I really like this knife for splitting when I dont have a chopper on me, I can split large or small logs with ease while I can choke back on the handle to chop with. To me it has a very good balance and I used it to make some fuzz sticks and slice up some tinder which it did easily. I dont know if it will replace my Ash-LE as far as my fav mid camper but its a great knife none the less. I like the grip on the Ash better for carving and cutting. I like the NMSFNO better for light chopping and wood/fire prep. It batons easily enough and once you get it going the shape of the knife pushes it through and the edge doesnt do much after that (not bad saves on sharpness)
few pics:
I did alot of work with this one and I must say I LOVE the finish, it took the wear well an only a little black coating from underneath is showing with all the work I did. I had it shaving sharp when I started, wouldnt shave when I finished but a little time on my loaded strop an leather strop and she was back to good in very little time. Handle felt good the whole time, no real hot spots and I didnt use gloves (wanted to see how she felt without them). Not shown are some of the bigger logs I did and fuzz sticks etc, hard to remember to take pics of everything but what are ya gonna do.
