NMSFNO sheath

Hey guys,

I really haven't posted much in the Busse sub forum, but have been reading and learning a lot about them and really getting a taste for Busse knives. I've, through the for sale section, acquired a Busse NMSFNO as my first Busse, and it should arrive in a few days.

I was wondering what type/brand of sheath are you guys using, and are there any generic type sheaths that this will fit in, for example a blackhawk sheath, or spec-ops etc. I am going on a vacation to the mountains in West Virginia and would really like to bring my new Busse along. And the wait time on a custom sheath wouldn't allow me to bring it.

You guys let me know, please, and pictures of your NMSFNO's would be awesome. I can't wait to get it, and will snap some pics as soon as it arrives.

Thanks very much,
-steve

Check out the Busse Company Store. You can have a Mashed Cat sheath in you hooves within a couple of days. Or you can contact Buy Brown Sheaths and David will probably be able to hook you up right away too.

Can't go wrong either way. Have fun breaking in that NMSFNO and make sure you get some pics to share with us.

I use Mashed Cat kydex sheaths for most of mine. You can get them at the Busse company store for a standard one, or go directly to Mashed Cat HERE and order one with a drop loop, slots for a leg strap, leg strap, etc.

He has them for most Busses, and the NMSFNO is a standard offering.

Yep, two good sources there. Another member here, steelnut, should have Kydex NMSFNO sheaths in stock, as well.

From what I've read, I think the larger Spec Ops sheath will also fit the NMSFNO. They advertise it will take an 8" blade, so it should be good to go.

And, by request:

Spec ops says it fits blades up to 8” Long x 1.75” Wide x 0.25” Thick I'm not sure how wide that NMSFNO actually is, I would think maybe bigger than that.

I really like the Okuden that came with my Spartan Ares, it's very good quality and solid, haven't checked out a mashed cat yet though.

It may very well be wider than 1.75". I didn't notice that. But I can't find a tape measure or ruler right now, so I guess I'll have to check that later.

I'm sheathing my NMSFNO in a Spec-Ops Combat Master. It's a tight fit but nothing wrong with that imo. (Check my 2 years with Busse thread to see how it looks if you want:thumbup:)

Chuddy Bear - superb craftmanship, functional design, and great price!
Depends on how high you want your knife to ride. I like my handle to go no higher than my hips so the handle won't jab me in the ribs.

Excellent.

If you want to loosen it up a bit (i.e. if it's TOO tight), you can take out the kydex insert, insert the blade, and with the blade inserted heat it up with a blow dryer. Go a little bit at a time and you can get it exactly where you want it.

I like the taco-style kydex. It's more compact then the pancake style although perhaps not as versatile in terms of fastening points.

I got mine (before I got the knife!) from David Brown - perfect!
