Hello fellow HOGS,

just wondering if anyone has a comparison pic showing a NMSFNO with a CGFBM, preferably a side-by-side comparison.

Any help would be great.

NICE!!!!
looks like users...in your opinion how do they compare to one another?

CG FBM is my all time favorite Busse. The SFNO is a great mid-sized blade and has my favorite handle shape.

would you happen to know the weights?
is there a big weight difference?

sorry for all the questions, and certainly NOT trying to hijack a thread...

looking into a chopper, bigger than the skinny ash, but not as big as ffbm...lol

They're both 1/4" thick and the BM is a couple inches longer and the blade is a half inch deeper. It weighs more than a half pound more, but I don't have a scale.

NMSFNO or a BM-E ,,,,,,the latter , if you can find one is the better choice,,,,,but the NMSFNO is a good lil chopper too

I am not a huge fan of the FFBM, too heavy IMO. The CG FBM is perfect for chopping. I've used the NMSFNO quite a bit too and they're both keepers. Like I all ready posted, the CG FBM is my favorite all time Busse. I have an Ergo mistress too and I would not part with her either, but the CG is the one.

the nmsfno, especially the LE which is the only one I have with fully convexed edge, is in the running for "THE ONE" knife( IF THERE IS SUCH A THING) for me.

A thin BM-e can be prone to pinky pinch some folks.

I like the 1/4" aftershock bolo. Its a much better BM E.

just my two cents

+1 for the 1/4" Bolo but you can't go wrong with a cgfbm. You can chop all day with either.

The NMFBM beats the SFNO. The NMFBM is surpisingly light for its size, probably because of the NM treatment. Comfy handle too. If you want a chopper, might as well the mother of all choppers.

My CG-FBM with mag micarta weighs 1LB-11oz.
My original Saber-.22 SFNO weighs just over 1Lb (16.5oz)

Don't have an FFBM to compare, but my 2007SE-FBM weighs 1Lb-13oz.

Not sure about the FFBM weight but it taxes you after a while and you always know it's attached to you no matter how you carry it. Same with the NMFBM although it is remarkably well balanced.
All depends on what, where and how your getting there.
If your vehicle is at your campsite, FFBM or NMFBM.
If your hiking or packing back country, CGFBM or NMSFNO or 1/4" Bolo.

Edit: I agree with Fishface (next post) 100%. CGFBM is a great all around blade.

I have had an NMFBM, GC FBM, and FFBM. I sold 2 but can't part with the CGFBM (I also have a NMFBM LE, which is now for sale as well). For me the CG FBM is the perfect compromise. I haven't sought out an NMSFNO b/c if you're going to go that big, might as well go a little bigger and get the extra chopping power of the CG FBM, while still retaining a comfortable size and carry weight.

I do not know how long can I resist to the mesmerising call of the CGFBM, because besides the SFNO it has the coolest and cleanest lines, and just looks RIGHT.
the only thing is - for what will I use this blade?! ok, ok I know the HOG answers, but really, besides chopping do you use -or could you use it for anything else, what makes sense? I'm ready for the "there's no better tool for slicing up zombies, or the turkey"-type answers, but please give me some sensible( :D )reasons to hunt one Mistress down...

For someone like me who was looking for an all around good survival knife that I could actually hike with the nmsfno is perfect. I got the LE but not ever gonna benefit from the convex grind because I got a white as my user. I would like a NMFBM or an FFBM but at the same time I am not even thinking about actually hiking any distance with them, that would just be ridiculous. The 22 ounces of the NMSFNO is more than enough to carry and I just don't think the ffbm is practical for anything but leaving in camp or car camping. I still can't decide if I will get the nmfbm or the ffbm next. Not sure if I want a bit more length or weight, not sure which would be better for chopping.

Well, I was going to start a thread about it, but the weather is crap here so none of the pics came out.
I recently got a CGFBM and took her out for a good beating (Mistresses BEG to be beaten, and who better to beat her than Cpl Punishment?).
Anyway, for woods chores -- they of course chop, split and baton extremely well. Don't do terrible at soft vegetation, either, but are a bit heavy if you are going to swing it for hours.
How about finer chores?
Well, if you watch what you're doing, I used her to make fuzz sticks (nice and curly "leaves" as good as any scandi blade), notch out pieces to a figure 4 trap, made some tent pegs, etc. The tip is too upswept to drill very well for a bow & drill set, but doable.

Bottom line: it can do everything the small knife guys say it can't -- thought some of it not as easily -- and a lot the small ones can't.
Can the NMSFNO do the above? Sure, just won't chop as well, or be as sexy. I'm glad I got the CGFBM instead.

BTW, if you carry the CGFBM on a baldric, you hardly feel the weight, unlike any sort of belt carry.

Here's a few pics of the CGFBM, NMSFNO, and Aftershock Bolo side by side by side.

I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite out of the three but if a chopper is what you long for the CGFBM will not disappoint it is a awesome performer that puts a big :D on my face whenever I destroy things with it.

Good luck
