NMSFNO vs. SAR 6?

I like practical/versatile blades. If I get my Boss Jack and love it I'll quickly order or look to buy another Busse.

Right now I'm torn between the NMSFNO and the SAR 6. But I am leaning toward the NMSFNO due to it's larger blade.

Anyway, when comparing the two, what are your thoughts?

Thanks

If you've got a Boss Jack OTW, the SAR 6 is nice, but about the same purpose blade as what your getting, the NMSFNO is a chopper and uber survival blade:

Thanks, that's what I was leaning toward. However, I've read complaints that they suck, with certain finishes/coatings, as slicers...

If you have a Jack, I would go with a NMSFNO. That way you have a greater diversity in blade lengths. The Outlaw is capable of slicing, just not as easily as a thinner blade. Look for a satin finished one if you're super concerned about cutting performance.

Yeah, after all its 1/4 and you want make sure too get 100% of cutting ability...then will not Suck anymore

I don't understand "1/4"...? Also, did you polish that yourself? The end looks like a shiny spoon.

Definitely leaning toward this model...If I like the DC BJ I'll get that same finish. Something I don't understand is the price guide's listing of price. I see $297, $497 and then a few others as well....what is the actual base price for these??

Thanks

Both are great knives. The NMSFNO would have the edge in chopping with the extra blade length and if it were me I would go with that to pair with the Boss Jack.

Hey Garth!! Thanks for the weigh in. I'm guessing you wouldn't be lending me your opinion of the NMSFNO was not available...at least I'm hoping... ;)

Any clue what the base price actually is? Again, there were several of them listed.

Thanks

I would look at the SAR8 as well and maybe a SARsquatch.

And the Team Gemini being offered direct from Busse is another option

Yeah I just replied in the other thread about the TG. I like the look but I'm wondering about function other than to hold it and swing or stab. Can it slice, baton and chop as well as the NMSFNO?...or close?

Thanks

My choices would be:

B11 Asym
B11
B11
B11
SAR 8
NMSFNO

In that order.

Are you asking if its available from Busse? Its not. Only on the secondary market. It probably has different base prices because of different finishes and models. The limited satin would have originally gone for more than a coated CG version. I haven't looked at the prices but that's most likely the difference. You should be able to easily dig on up on the exchange.

I have an NMSFNO, and love it. Probably the best camp knife I've ever used. Used it on a hunting trip in December for processing firewood (nobody else in the party thought to bring a hatchet, axe, or otherwise) and ended up cutting up a nail that I didn't know was in a log. Had it get stuck in a couple of knots and broke the log I was using as a baton. I laughed at everybody's wide eyes while I beat the living tar out of her. Since then, she's been subject to a slew of yard duties and is missing a great deal of her coating as a result. A versatile knife for sure, but you'll probably be better off with that BJ as a slicer.
