I think I need another :)

Definitely want a satin finish on the blade but cant decide between black paper or black G10 grips.
Would really like to see a comparison pic between this grips if anyone has them?

If you're going to use it and use it hard, go with G-10. Black paper is darker, looks nicer, but it brittle as a heavy user scale option.

Mark, right there with ya Bro !!!

Got black canvas micarta on mine, the canvas micarta is darker in the pick because I got oil on it (another cool thing is this material will have different looks as you use it). This is my new favorite handle material. I also think there is more of a demand for tan and black canvas micarta when it comes to resale. UPDATE: Just realized you were asking about black PAPER micarta......... well.....black canvas micarta is better:D

Thanks for the replies everyone, its not likely to see much use this one which is why I didn't include the black canvas (already have that on my ASHBM)

For that, I'd be pretty certain it's black paper just because it's pure black.

Black G-10 can dry out a little so you can see dull spots or layers from when it was cut/sanded down.

Not to say that isn't G-10 that has had WD40 or mineral oil applied to it, but I'd be confident in saying it's paper

Looks like paper to me. But it could also be freshly oiled g10. Hard to be sure from that pic.

Cheers guys :)

I think I'll be ordering one with Satin and black paper very soon. Doesn't help I've been eying off the Satin and blue/black as well as Orange/Black G10m they look really nice as well.......:)

Man. Ur really gona make me get another nmsfno and my first one hasn't even arrived lol. Satin finish is supreme

Can anyone guess if these are G10 or paper?

Its my pic so I can confirm the others ...It is black paper:thumbup::)

I will say I love black paper. Its the best looking IMO, and it has a softer, warmer feel compared to G-10. It also gets grippy when wet.

FYI, for future reference in a close up you can tellthe difference cause G-10 will show dots in material and usually have sharper edges while black paper will be solid black, not dots and have smoother ridges.

As far as toughness goes Ive never hurt one. Ive only seen a few that have been and it was minor. Nothing catastrophic like whole scale coming off etc. Id say this is more myth than reality. It was a concern in the past when Busse had stopped using black paper cause it couldnt be replaced. Now that the shop has put black paper on all kin since 2010 I dont see it as an issue anymore as it is always warrantied and seems readily available.

The only difference would be like an old Gen III set of rope cut black paper as they can not be remade.
