Off topic, but I usually am... Next Friday is it people. I've seen a couple of posts, but no threads. I have to say, I've been tripped out about it for the last eight years or so, but now that it's right at our doorstep, it doesn't really seem like much is happening or going to happen. There's always a way to argue it, "the calm before the storm", but to me, it just doesn't feel like anything crazy is going to happen.
What about you?
On a side note, any California Bay Area folks interested in having a little end of the world party in the San Jose mountains? I know a great little place (well, the only place for 30 miles up here) to get a beer/burger. I'm tight with the ownership (okay, I work here, $20 a week to sort garbage [maybe I shouldn't invite more people here, I get paid the same no matter what...]) and if we wanted to have a chopping/drinking/eating party we'd be more than welcome, there's even a spot where we could do a little light shooting (under .30-30) and plenty of logs/dead trees that are open game for chopping.
Look up The Junction, 47300 Mines Road, Livermore, CA on google maps to see how far from civilization it is, a great starting place if the doo-doo hits the fan. The restaurant's mascot is even a boar!
If enough people are interested I could set up an official thing, if not, just stop by on any given day and I'll probably be out chopping at my log. It's a beautiful drive no matter where you come from (Patterson, Livermore or San Jose) and the restaurant is a nice place to make a pit stop.
