Specs are:

Overall Length 15", Blade 10", fileworked whole blade length
416 Bolsters and Pins; mosaic pin is made by Barry Posner, purchased from TKS

Fork

I had fun making this one but like always I'm ready for the next!

Verry very nice, an instant heirlom! I realy like the pin pattern on the handls.

Your stepson should love them.

Dave! I had no idea how nice those would turn out! You did an outstanding job! Truly an artistic creation and something that should become a treasured family heirloom! Way to go! (Is your makers mark a stamp or etch? It's classy.)

Is this the same fellow who was wondering if he could hang out his shingle? That's stunning Dave!:) Oh...next time you run out of 5160 give me a call.:D

what a great looking set! im sure they will get a lifetime of enjoyment using those pieces...kinda makes me want to start roasting a turkey....:) ;)

those are nicer than any i have made and sold todate! and i really mean that. tell us how deep you set the pins on the handles?

I got to see them last week, while he was working on the handles. He can work up a mean shine. After seeing his collection, his work is ready for prime time. And he still has all his fingers! His pin work is probably going to be his trademark as many of his pieces use pins to echo or emphasize the shape of the handle. I am definitely going to be using more after seeing what they can do for a design.
Good work!

Wow, thanks! Guy, it's a stamp that I got from Harper Manufacturing. Laurence, they go all the way through. Ken was kind, I use the fancy pins because I can't carve. :)

Dave, That set is sooooo beautiful. Great work!
The fork is not heat treated? Someone please, please tell me that I am
wrong in that the stainless qualities aren't there until after they
are heat treated.

by heat treatment, but the finish also plays a part. i heat treat my ats-34 / 440c forks and satulas, well paul bos.

Don and Laurence I hadn't thought of that. I think it must work harden some too, because though I haven't run this set through a dish washer it has been wet a lot and never formed any rust. I heated it to dull red when I was bending it to shape. I'll have to watch that and see how it performs for its new owner. If it rusts I will have learned yet another valuable lesson! :D
