No answer from Chestnut Ridge concerning sheaths , I'll ask here.

Chestnut Ridge Knife Shop offers kydex sheaths for the BK7 and BK9. As I have the older Camillus versions, which I believe are a different blade thickness, I'm trying to determine if the Camillus versions aren't too thick to fit, or too thin and will rattle.

Also, if anyone owns one of the Chestnut Ridge sheaths. can the belt loop be removed and replaced with a different attachment method? I see different sheaths on their site with different attachments.

I've posted this in the Ka-Bar forum, as well.

I've sent three e-mails to Chestnut Ridge over the course of a couple of months, with no response, and I've checked my junk mail and spam folders. Not really giving me a warm fuzzy for the company.

I can't say if the Camillus versions will fit.

The one I got with my BK2, Ontario RD4 and Afghan do have a revomable belt loop. The loop is a folded over piece of kydex, same thickness as the sheath. There are rivet holes down the "edge" side of the kydex. Two of those holes have screws that attach the belt loop to the sheath.

My advice, call Chestnut Ridge. In the past I also sent them E-mails without getting answers. They responded, but would only answer part of my questions. They make a quality sheath, no frills, bells, or whistles, but thick ass kydex, and the fit is great on all of mine.

Contact Azwelke, his sheaths are out of sight.

head over to the Good, Bad, and Ugly, if you want to read some reviews of Chestnut Ridge, lots of info there, should help you make up your mind.

Oh, and FYI, if everyone starts throwing their opinion in here on Chestnut Ridge, this thread will be heading to GBU.

Thanks.

Sorry, Moose. Had no idea I was stirring something up. Thanks, foxx, for the information about the belt loop.

AZWelke. I can recommend them with zero hesitation if you want quality kydex for your knives. Those sheaths are freaking bulletproof.

You weren't stirring anything up, there is a place to discuss dealers, and your experiences with said dealers. Your post said nothing about that, you were looking for info on sheaths on BKT knives. Great post, btw, I bet someone else has asked the same question and never posted it.

Some folks look for any opportunity to offer up and share their experience in dealing with a dealer or distributor, that stuff belongs in the Good, Bad, and Ugly Forum, it has lots of posts regarding just about every dealer/distributor out there. Worth checking out, if you are looking to buy something.

I visited the GBU, and have an e-mail in to azwelke after looking at his work.

I greatly appreciate the suggestion to check out his products.

I want one of those Mashed Cat Drop Leg Kydex BK9 sheaths someone here has. But I added it up with all the accessories and it seems pretty pricey for a kydex sheath.

I have a couple Azwelke sheaths, I like them completely. Look photobucket under Azwelke , he can make anything you need and has answered all my stupid questioned in a very timely manner.

the Azwelkes come with no attachments correct? just the sheath? I would have to supply a kydex belt loop or tec-lok to belt carry it? I like the Azwelke tacos

You can also buy the attachments from him to go with the sheath if you don't want to order a Tek-lok from someone else.
