Portland announced there will be no gatherings larger than 250 people until they have a vaccine so they cancelled the show. NYC has put a 2 week quarantine on all travelers there which doesn't bode well for the New York Custom show in Nov. Will we ever have knife shows again? No one knows when there will actually be a vaccine available for the general public.

Just curious......asking because I really don't know......how does this mandated two week quarantine for travelers actually get verified/enforced?

It probably won't be enforced to any degree, if at all. Back in early April Utah tried a strategy of notifying visitors coming into the state from outside to quarantine themselves if they were symptomatic. Basically people were sent a text to their cell phones upon entering the state. The text asked the usual Covic-19 questions and the answers were to be sent to a database to track the results.

It didn't work. For one the technology didn't work as advertised. And secondly most people simply ignored it.

In the end it becomes mostly voluntary. Short of becoming like China

liberal democracies seem to be relying on the honour system mostly, with some local legislation here and there. More authoritarian places in the world are definitely enforcing and verifying.

There was an article in a local paper about a couple in a small town who refused to quarantine after getting back from a cruise, and their neighbours were totally like;

but no one paid any fines or got busted

Hopefully the NY show is a go.... Take everyone's temp, Mask mandatory, hand sanitizer stationed everywhere...etc.

My gut gives it a slim chance though....

There’s a AIK show in Washington MO next month, 7/25 & 26, 125 tables. Blade has killed lots of smaller shows...karma can be a harsh mistress.

The rescheduled Blade Show is about a month and a half away...anyone have any thoughts as to whether or not it will happen as scheduled???...

On one hand, the Governor is very progressive in opening everything back up...on the other hand, Georgia joins Florida, Texas and Arizona with super high numbers...

The Cobb Galleria website claims they begin shows July 15th.

We are scheduled to go. I HAVE to be there, I'm a service to my clients.

Hoping and wishing for different news. I expect a full 50% reduction in attendees, though.

We will see. My trip to the Sydney Knife Show (now cancelled) the week prior to Blade actually made me pleased. Doing BOTH!?? Yikes.

I just saw this in the news re Georgia:

“The governor also signed two new Executive Orders on Monday, one of which extended the Public Health State of Emergency to August 11. The other order requires Georgians to social distance and bans gatherings of more than 50 people where social distancing is not feasible.”

It’s kind of hard to imagine a Blade Show happening under these restrictions...

Thanks Buddy. I just sent a detailed email letter to the Cobb Galleria Event Center. Their website has no change and still reports they will reopen on July 15th.

"The GA governor has extended the Public state of health on Covid to Aug 11th.

I am scheduled for a BIG departure to the Blade Show the weekend prior. I need to know ASAP if this is going to happen.

It is disappointing for all if it is cancelled, but we can't change 2020. Please advise?

Thank you.

Let's see if they respond. Hmmmm.

There are two Executive Orders. One is for a general continuance, and the OTHER pertains specifically to the Cobb Galleria and Blade Show:

The actual GA governor Executive Order for gatherings larger than 50 people is ONLY extended from June 30 to July 15th.

This said, the 2020 Blade Show falls beyond this date to Aug 7-9. Stay posted.
