No Bucks in the new Cabela's catalog

I thought this was a little strange. I just received Cabela's Spring 2009 Master catalog, and there's not even one Buck listed. :thumbdn:

There's two pages of knives but no Bucks. I haven't paid that much attention in the past, so I don't know if that's normal or not. The website still has them (no AG 110's though), so I wonder why that is?

You know I noticed the same thing, last years catalog just had a few Bucks in it. Is Cabala's dropping the Buck Knives? If so I don't need there catalog, I think I will give them a call and find out......

Thanks PD, for the bad news... ... Now we need some good news... :) ... CJ, said there are some new knives coming out but where??? ??? Not Cabala's it looks like... ....

Still seems to be plenty on the website. I wouldn't worry too much just yet, though it is a little strange...

I haven't received the 2009 Master yet but if they've left the AG line out as well as other Bucks...that's very very very bad. Cabelas is a catalog retailer first and foremost. If its not an error, that suggests they will sell out their remaining inventory with internet sales and make break with Buck. I think they're insane if they do that...I cetainly hope its a printing error and not a change in their knife offerings for the worse.

Depressing thoughts.

Don't fret fellah's,

I get every catalog for these guys and some of them from time to time have little or no Buck knives in them. Their master Cutlery catalog has plenty of Buck knives and a few that were never in any of the other catalogs.

JB,

You have to be right...the AG line seems to successful to stop.

FL,

The catalog in question is the Spring issue. Not the hard bound real master catalog;).

These guys are very good at catalog sales as you stated:thumbup: They need some work on their store floor sales:thumbdn:. When I was there clerk #2 said he had a wood AG 110 and said how great it did skinning deer. However, that said he was trying to sell me the "Knives of Alaska" bear cub, that looks like a mini version of the Schrade "Sharp Finger" in D-2 steel:eek:.

This new catalog is the SPRING Master Catalog and is heavily oriented to fishing equipment, hence the lack, not only of Buck, but of most all knives except filet knives. I'm sure we'll see plenty of Bucks in their Fall catalog.

I know...I got the bible the other day and was wondering about this thread topic.
Been looking for a 110AG Stag sheath. Apparently they are sold seperately from the knife. Hoped it would be in The Wish Book.

HA HA HA!!! I crack myself up.

So there it is...The Spring Catalog...not the Master Catalog. Dang it Plum, all that got me frazzeled up. Just kidding; but I did lock in on Master Catalog and hense my thoughts on what was going on.

I wouldn't worry too much. The catalogs I get vary all the time. Some are seasonal, some are topical. The web site is probably a better indicator than the printed material.

>but I did lock in on Master Catalog <

Same here. Sorry for the confusion. I still don't understand why they would have two pages of other knives with not one Buck. I hadn't seen the fillet knives, but thenI didn't look at that section.

Interesting thread here guys :) I'm not really a huge Buck fan like some of you all are but I do have a few of their knives in my long term collection and they have always been one of my favorite American production knife companies over the years.

The reason I chimed in on this particular thread is because this appears to me to be another indication of a very disturbing trend that is taking place throughout the entire country. The trend is to no longer concentrate on selling high quality USA made merchandise or even high quality foreign imports but rather to sell cheap, inferior foreign made items produced in "hell-hole sweatshops instead. The profit margins on such lousy quality items is much bigger than selling high quality items and the main thrust of most retailers here in the USA leans toward the very bottom line and that is how much money they make per quarter>> and can they keep the shareholders happy :( and not necessarily to give you or me something for our money.

Buck is a very quality minded company and I have had the priviledge of speaking to a couple of the Buck family members at the big BLADE show in Atlanta a couple of years ago. I think BUCK is truly an American institution and has set a standard of quality throughout the entire USA knife industry.

As long as we got people going to places like "rip-mart" like a throng of herd animals we are going to see less stress on quality and more people favoring cheap items over quality built merchanidise. I say that because I would bet that if Cabellas has indeed deleted the BUCK line they have more than likely replaced it with merchandise produced in 3rd world hell-holes (for a much cheaper price I might add)

Now I'm not against all foreign imports as we know there are some imports that have equal quality to our own manufactured goods. And many of these countries have decent living standards and at least reasonable human rights. But when you see a knife that looks like a Buck model 110 for $4.99  you already know the story behind that one :(.

When will people ever learn the one age old principle that has proven to be time tested and true>>> YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR<<

This was really wierd, the spring master was stripped of buck knives... its wierd how cabelas has the outfitter sieries with buck but discludes them from thiere catolog... darn! i was looking forward to the new catalog!
