I am in agreement with Josh Muller. The only thing I do not like about Busse Blades is the choil. I wish every line that comes out would have the option of no choil. Aint nothing like pulling your blade out and having it stick on a rib etc... Above and beyond that--no complaints. If the blade is long enough-guess it really does not matter--unless you are super aggressive.

Just a thought
Thanks

Sorry Josh--I hope you do not mind me bringing your thoughts over from another thread--But I agree and am new to the forums.
Thanks.

I have found on my Choil-less models that I do end up missing it. I like to choke up on my blade using the choil for an extra strong grip. I think it would be difficult to offer as an option for production styles and for one would prefer to keep it. I also consider it to be sort of signature Busse to have a choil.

I'll like them to. Love the looks and it's great for using a forehand grip IMO:thumbup:

Ditto, I like the big choil it is a great feature on 6"+ knives, I also like a smaller choil on shorter blades if it fits the overall design like on small Busses

I'm somewhat in agreement. My personal preference is any knife with a blade 5'' or shorter should not have a choil (especially blades 4'' and under). I would give a toe or two to get an AD and GW without a choil :) .

Chiming in for the choil. Yes on 6"+ and most often no on 5"-. Although, I wouldn't own a Howler without a choil.

Small blades like the game warden shouldn't have a choil or that hole right in the middle

If you are talking about the "talon hole", that is a Busse trademark.
Personally, I always want to have that every time. Also, while we're critiquing Jerry's designs, other than the GW, I always want a "skull crusher" in some form, preferably with a second hole.

Skull crushers rule. I agree 100%

i am definately for the choil, and skull crushers. if these are removed you take away some of their versatility.

I'm a foot and ankle doc who is willing to barter my services for Busse knives.
If you find what you are looking for and need help harvesting the toes, then let me know;)

FYI: this is not a solicitation for toes (I have plenty... ten)!

I would be willing to commision a choil free GW in exchange for a big toe, I could donate it to a friend who needs one! Let me know!

*MODS* If this is too solicitous please forgive me! ;)

I think the choils look great...they also increase the functionality, IMHO.

Also, they help a not-so knife-savvy bloke like myself easily recognize a busse. busse trademark 100%.

It's not worth the big toe brother! The pinky toe for sure and maybe the one next to it, but without the big toe you could have problems.

Honestly, I would recommend that everyone here keeps their toes just in case they accidentally cut off a thumb or finger and need a transplant from their own feet;)
