No convex edges anymore?

I just got another Sebenza born 10/10/06.

Strangely, it's the first plain, large, regular Sebenza I've ever owned.

Even more strangely, the edge is flat-ground, not convex like my Classics have. It IS the sharpest Sebenza I've ever taken out of a box.

Odd.

I needed a large, reg, plain to be my "beater" Sebenza.

Sebenzas only come with a slightly convex edge, but I'm sure they haven't done away with it. You probably just got a "special" one :P

I'm thinking that Chris Reeve's thinking is that instead of attaining an incredibly sharp edge (flat), he would rather have a longer lasting and stronger one (convex). I think he uses the same reasoning for angles, even though S30V can easily handle 15* per side, Sebenzas are ground to slightly more than 20*.

Thanks for editing the way this post first appeared. I hate it when people assume I'm retarded.:D I AM, but that's beside the point.:D

Yeah, when I compare side-by-side with my large and small classics I can see the difference. This one is definately flat.

I would agree with all of that. Especially when you consider that, if Reeve provides edges to those specs, you can easily lower or flatten the edge to suit your taste.

I mean, you can't go backwards. You can't ADD metal, so he gives you options.
