no david boye dent on manix??

Sal had this to say about the Boye dent a few weeks back. He was not talking specifically about the Manix, but one or more of the reasons he states probably apply to it.

We don't put the "Boye dent" on all locks, it depends on the curve of the spine of the handle, the size and shape of the lock bar detent in the handle, the depth of the lock hammer and the size of the knife. It's a safety feature where needed. As we design or re-design, we look closely at that feature. We've heard that there are a few of our ELUs that actually don't like the dent ;) .
The last, was aimed at me, :o I make no bones about not liking "the dent". :D

It isn't needed on the Manix or any of the other heavy folders. The lock bar on those knives has to travel much farther up to disengage. The chance of your accidentally disengaging a knife lock bar that has to move up that much is pretty slim. But it also would just about be impossible to push it down far enough to disengage it if there was a Boye detent in them, so I would not advise putting one on the lock bar. You may end up with a knife permanently locked opened if you do.
