There are dozens of knive articles on Wikipedia, covering everything from "slipjoint" to "opinel" to "shiv" to "pukko". However, there is nary an entry regarding "barlow knives".

I picked up a few recently, and realized that there isn't a lot of easily-accessible info online explaining these knives.

Given the popularity of Wikipedia, I'd say it'd be great if someone could whip up even a short paragraph or two to get the article started, and then it could be built up from that framework.

Anybody keen? I have neither the knife knowledge to write the article, nor the wiki skills to post it, but am sure we have both here. I'll be content to be the "idea man"

Sounds like a worthwhile endeavor to me. You're certainly correct that the knowledge is available from the contributors to this site. Just read a long thread on Barlows not too long ago. Perhaps something may appear over the Hollydaze.

Perhaps it's better to divide the task between the knife side and the tech side:

Can one person just knock out a brief paragraph on the origin/history or the Barlow?

At some point later, one of our more tech-savvy memebrs can go and cut-n-paste it into Wikipedia.
