Its kinda strange but the feeling i get when I get a package and am about to open it is pretty awesome! before i got into knives i never really knew anything like it, am so glad I got into knives and get to experience this every time i get something in the mail. I'm sitting here at the moment with a package sitting in front of me and all it is is a simple Pete gray LBS for my strider, and even for something that small, I'm pretty stoked..anyway just thought I'd share that with my blade forum buddies!
how bout u guys what's you're unboxing rush like???

Unboxing is nice, but for me the first time I slide the knife out of the little plastic bag is the best feeling in the world. Better than breaking the surface of new peanut butter. Better than the burn after a good workout. Better than the first sip of water after a triathlon. Better than catching a ball at a MLB game. Better than popping bubble wrap. Better than cracking your neck when you get up in the morning. Better than jumping in a pool on a hot day. Better than petting an eight week old puppy. Better than kicking your boots off at the end of a hard day of work. Better than some other things ;)

Basically, it puts a big old smile on my face and nothing else matters.

It's the peak of the high IMO. Kinda sad, that I derive enjoyment from buying material items, and soon after I purchase one, it's all too well known, and I'm off after the next one. Could be much worse though AFAIC. Knives are practical tools for me, and I much prefer the ones, that give me serviceable performance for many years to come. That's were the real enjoyment comes from, in my experiences. I'm trying not to get too caught up in the initial impression of a knife.

It is matched only to the feeling after a long loved knife accomplishes a task you thought impossible, then looking at that knife like a proud father looks at his son.
