No finger choil on the Delica?

i’ve always felt like the Spyderco Delica is just begging for a finger choil but it doesn’t have one. Is this something that could be added if they come out with the Delica 5? Is there a specific reason they don’t have a finger choil on the Delica?

Well, the Delica (and Endura) have been around and wildly popular since 1990 (almost twice as long as you have been alive! :D) without a finger choil, so it may be only you who is begging for the choil.

That said, as EricV EricV noted about there are a ton of Spyderco models with finger choils. I'm sure if you look through their line you could find something to siut your needs.

You never heard of the Spyderco R? It is pretty much a Delica with a choil.

There’s your Delica with a choil. Then there is the Byrd version of the Delica, it has a choil too.

As has already been mentioned, there are plenty of alternatives that have a finger choil. I myself (and apparently a whole lot of other people) like the Delica as is, without a finger choil. I'm all for constant quality improvement, but IMO a choil would NOT be an improvement on the Delica.

No!!! One of the reasons I like the delica is that instead of a round choil that can catch on material(especially if it has jimping:thumbsdown:), it has more of a ramp. Material slides off it and onto the blade. Also, you can still put your finger there. I do it all the time.

That's why I personally never liked the Delica. It always felt like it needed to be just a bit bigger, or need a finger choil. Even my little Kopa feels better in my hand than the Delica. Oddly, one of my EDCs is a Tasman Salt, which uses the same handles as the Delica, yet it doesn't feel too small. It's a matter of the different way I grip it. My Caly 3 (and the Caly Jrs I once owned) are Delica-sized, and fit my hand like I was the model for them.

Personally I would love a Delica with a choil. Something about the regular Delica didn’t click for me and I got rid of it. After using more Spyderco’s I think a Delica with a finger choil would be a near perfect sub 3” edc. Just my own opinion.

I prefer my Delica for precisely that reason. If you want a choil on that size of a Spyderco then get a Native or Caly 3.
