For months I have tried to find my wife a handgun. The Taurus .38 Special was too heavy because it was on a .45 frame. The S&W airlight .38 Special had too much kick & was too noisy . [Spaghetti wrists ]
Went to a fleamarket Saturday & there were lots of semi-'s in .22 & .38 but no revolvers. Sunday I went to a gun show & they had tons but they were too pricey or too old. I stopped at a vendors to buy an extended clip for my Albanian SKS . Knee was locking up & he offered me a seat. I watched the booth while he went to drain his lizard & when he came back we BS'd a bit. I was getting ready to go & he asked me to take a look at his little jewel . What ? He put a stainless .32 6 shot Colt in my hand. Looked brand new ! Nary a blemish, screw heads virginal, barrel gleaming !
After a bit of di$cu$$ion I gave him $225 & prepared for the paperwork, phone call & 3 day waiting period. Asked if I had a Florida CC permit & I said yes . Having the permit waives all that crap & I walked away with it in a leather zipper case .

No registration & NO footprints. If the feds are monitoring this ,too bad !

Done. ;).........................

Sounds like a great deal on the Colt,I was just wondering about the extended clip on the SKS. :)

I'm still looking for a 20 round metal magazine. I bought a phenolic one but am afraid it won't take rough usage. Haven't checked the net 'cause I am not fond of exposing my card number to outer space. I'll stumble over one like I did that Cherry Colt.

A profound statement. Sounds almost Biblical . [ Joking ] All things come to he who waits ? Wives shopping included ?
Parts of Florida seem to have perpetual fleamarkets ,church bazaars, garage & yard sales. If you have the time & money virtually any transportable item is available. My magazine is waiting out there.

In a good mood today. Taking surplus food & extra donation to church for those in need .Thank God we are able & willing to share .

I remember fleamarkets down in Florida. Picked up a few nice gifts for the folks back home.

You should see New York City in the summertime. Flea markets (street fairs) running for miles down the avenues. Bring your own airconditioning.

Relief From The Heat Of The Street

urban vermin draggin drippin
rippin out his hair in rage
all the traffic fingers flippin
stuck in one big urban cage

soon the airconditioned buildins
losing power start to swelter
urban vermin leave the city
find some lakeside cabin shelter

now the skies are black and roarin
wind and thunder what a blast
rain is pourin lightnin flashin
urban vermin cool at last
Not as bad as a hurricane though. :p

No thank you too much ! Almost born there but Mom got back to N.C. just in time. Dad was stationed there with the Coast Guard & was pulling iceberg patrol .I thought of them the other day while reading an article about Ellis Island . She said she would go there & watch the imigrants being processed in. It was very busy in the late '20's & she could keep we kids fascinated with the stories about it.

A good deal on that pistol methinks.

But I too am interested in the SKS mag - tell me you aren't after some aftermarket POS - say it aint so?!?! If it is one of the 20 round internal mags originally made for the chinese SKS you'll probably get decent function out of it - you may have to 'fit' it though depending upon the rifle you've got. OTOH, if it is any kind of aftermarket mag for the SKS, do yourself a favor and forget about it.

The SKS is an extremely reliable, handy gun with better accuracy than most expect but I have yet to hear of an aftermarket mag for it that is worth a crap.

Great deal, but I'm surprised about the no waiting period.

Here in MN, there is a couple weeks waiting period for the purchase or carry permit:jerkit:
But once you have it, there isnt a waiting period for buying stuff. Waiting periods are BS.

I bought a fine piece back in 02, and waited about a week, until I got the phone call that I could come and get my pistol. I went in, with my hand under my coat reaching for my wallet, and said, loudly, I'm here for my pistol. When I saw all of those good old boys proudly carrying in there start going for their sides (pistols    ), I quickly put my hands up in the air, and said Whoah, whoah, whoah. Stupid, yeah, but a hell of a learning tool. I've been in that store since, and some of those same good old boys still josh me about that. Embarassing, but a hell of a teaching aid. Why did I do that? I have no idea, I'm just glad to be here  .

Someone else told me the phenolic magazine I bought was crap.He said when he filled his & slapped it in his palm to seat the ammo rearward ,an ear broke off.
I bought an aftermarket metal mag for my Ruger Ranch .223 carbine that works as well as the original. Since SKS never made anything else ,I'll just be satisfied with 10 rounds.
Pleasingly surprised that my Albanian's worth has more than doubled in just 2 years. Only one beat-up one at the show for $385 .
Mine is amazingly accurate at 50 yards but I tend to group at 4'oclock . Son wants to tweak the sights but doesn't have the tool. I've been shooting long enough to give it an eyeball adjustment since it is a close group .

Safe shooting !

Well, this would have spooked me immediately. Glad you hung in there and got a good deal though. :D

Yes, I was a bit put-off by his remark but stayed the course. Gonn'a go to Colt website & check that 'lil' jewel out.

The long fixed magazines for the SKS are fine; it's the conversions to detachable magazines that are dubious. You can get a 30-round fixed magazine that's just like the original only longer and fill it with stripper clips (3 at a time) and that will work reliably.

yep i agree with ya cougar, i have a 30 round fixed metal mag for my SKS paratrooper & its never jammed, yet anyway.

i also got a fixed 20 rounder, w/a star on the side, kinda funny shape not like a std mag, and it works fine also doesnt hold bu 17 rounds though for some reason.

i bought my SKS about 12 yrs ago, norinco paratrooper w/a spike bayonet & sling, $90, darned things sell for $250-300 now. gat an AK soon after though and really prefer it, the carbine still looks LNIB, shot about 200 times probably.

mine is also acceptably accurate, it came w/a scope & mount but i have never put it on.
