Have been a frequent visit to South Africa, and on one visit just over four years ago, visited the knife making workshops and showroom of Trevor Burger. Some of you may know of the classic Exkelibur folder which originates from Trevor's family. The family run business was fathered, literally, by William Burger and still makes the most stunning sword canes you can imagine http://www.swordcane.com/index.htm

Anyway, we're not allowed those back in our country, so my quest was to look at some folders. Here's a photo-rich post or two.........hope you enjoy

- yes, I finally found their place

- the darker Des-Ir folder was purchased a long time back, the other two are more recent (Des-Ir and Giraffe)

One of my favorite makers. I only have one along with the two different Excellaber 1's. The bokers had the worst quality and materials it forced me to buy the Burger.

Really want more of them. Some of the best blade profiles for slicing.

Looks like a great shop and some fine knives....thanks for the pictures.

Nice knives Paul!

- cheers, Jake

As a design, I guess they're rather old hat..........but to me the EXK is a classic - lovely to hold and use, great ergos.

And, in these materials, together with the fit n finish, they're a real pleasure

I like the one with the darker ironwood. Those super thin pinstriped liners really pop without being overstated. Plus the pattern in the damascus has a great flow to it.
