No Full Knife Disassembly for Para 2 Back Spacers...

I was reading on another thread about Paramilitary 2 back spacers and forum member SNOOKA posted a pic of his back spacer which requires no full disassembly of a Para2 to install. I've been producing these for awhile with just a minor difference in the profile... but the exact same principal.

The lanyard pipe opening in the G10 back spacer snaps over the lanyard pipe due to the flex in the G10's lower tang. The stainless barrel spacer fits into the back spacers hardware hole and you rotate the spacer into position for securing with the screws. Only the two screws and barrel spacer need removal for installation of this type of back spacer.

Here's some pics...

Very cool concept, but for those less fortunate, lets say your backspacer requires dissesembly and just one pair or torx screws toward the butt of the handle will not come out no matter how much you heat it up by contact or boiling water. What the next move?

Just remove this part ; )

Ah... I've NEVER had an issue with recalcitrant Torx screws in the Spyderco line of knives. Kershaw Emersons ABSOLUTELY... but never Spydercos.

I suppose you could search specifically for difficult screw removals or parameters to that effect on Google or Bing etc. IF the two Torx butt screws cannot be removed then even this modified design has zero appeal. This design only eliminates the requirement of having to deal with the factory flared lanyard pipe on the PM2... recalcitrant Torx screws are a completely different problem.

You could try heating the Torx screws with a soldering iron or a cheap Torx driver you don't mind wrecking, it doesn't need to fit particularly well - just put it in the head of the screw and heat the screwdriver, holding it with pliers or Mole grips. That should destroy any threadlocker that may have been used or just free it off due to expansion/contraction. It will ruin any tempering the Torx driver had leaving it softened.

Like bigdino, I'd like to know how to get one of these and the cost (I wonder how orange would look with the digicam pm2...). I can't pm, so maybe an email to rjwiggall at hotmail dot com?

I think I want one for my PM2 that is in the mail!! I don't trust myself taking the knife apart...this looks like a great alternative. SMART IDEA!!! PM ME!!!!

Oh..and for those who are totally clueless, I would love to see a quick video as to how this is installed. Is there one out there??
