Hi everyone,
Hi,
Wanted to know , being in ny, building a 120sf shed with high enough ceiling and wide doors to maybe even use it for more than storage for blacksmith supplies and tools.
Would also like to learn to weld one day, so with out a garage, the shed could be very useful.
As I have been learning, I have been buying a few important supplies. I now have 3 lengths of RR RAIL at 12", 28" , and 39" long. The last one is new, and the first two are almost 100 years old or so I am told. I plan on setting them up outside vertically, and guess I will build a wooden structure around it to protect from weather. I was thinking of cementing a pressure treated 4 by 4 and connecting to the 4 by 4.
Is there a flow I should follow when determining placement outside the shed?
So, for the vices, will the freezing temps make any dirt in the box act like a abrasive against the metal parts that move?
Now , having a 120sf shed, this changes my choices for forges.
Just not requiring a 100# propane tank. Blower or atmospheric?
Mankel, chile, and Jymm Hoffman forges seem to be well made, as long as I put it on a cart to move it out of the shed when working.
What about a real 165lb anvil, outside , or in the shed by the doors. Peddinghaus and nimba are my favorites.
Being heavy weight will not be an issue, will have a cement floor, and corrugated steel inside walls, what would be a really good gas forge for blacksmithing and forge welding.
Would have on a cart and store in the shed.
Jymm hoffman makes some nice forges.
Thanks ,
Jon
