No half stops. I like it.

I prefer no half stops on my slip joint knives and it seems that Buck has a similar perspective. The 700 series knives don't have half stops and neither do the 300 series. I recently purchased a 250 Saunter which is a newly released slip joint and it doesn't have a half stop either.

I like it but I have to wonder if Buck has any particular reason for making their slip joints without half stops. It seems intentional. I know what my reasons are and I can't help wondering why Buck prefers no half stops. I don't recall ever reading anything about it.

My Granddaddy Barlow has half stops.
I like it on that because it's a rather long blade.

I guess not having them on a shorter blade is ok, as long as it doesn't spring shut too hard.

I’m with you. I don’t like half stops. I have some knives with them but I prefer not to have them at all. Seems to me that half stop knives are harder for me to open on the initial pull. On something like a peanut where there’s tight little springs and small shallow nail nicks, it’s just aggravating for me. I’m glad none of the bucks have them at all.
