Thats one of the rules for NY state campgrounds! This weekend is our annual neighborhood camping trip and I just read the park rules and regs,no hunting knives, but axes are ok.

Well I plan on following this rule.See last year I used a 3 inch Case slipjoint to dress my deer,so I will leave this knife home.I will have a 4 inch tac folder, sak and a 9 inch fixed blade the name of which is Marine Combat I believe.

Oh yes if I see any 3 inch slipjoints I'll report them to the State Police, perhaps they'll call out swat.......

Hey you kid with the Buck 110 "put down the knife and marshmellow stick","we have you surounded".

The U.S. has gone past the point of no return I'm afraid. :barf:

I for one live in deathly fear that someone will use a knife to hijack a campground and crash it into the Empire State Building.

Gosh, no hunting knives at a camp site? That has got to be the most absolutely stupid law I have ever heard in my life! If you can't have a hunting or camp knife at camp, where on earth can you have it? I don't even think people who make up these rules take time to think about how stupid they are. :(

Exactly how do they define 'hunting knife' ? I'll have to retrain to learn how to dress out a deer with a axe or chain saw !

That's life in NY State-stupid laws made by incompetant ovepaid legislators-and still no state budget!!! BTW New York has great state parks and campgrounds-don't let the laws deter you from visiting-just bring a folder I guess-Tony

Move to Alaska. Great camping and everyone expects you to have a knife, and a gun, and a half rack of beer. Wait, maybe that's why Alaska's population is so low. Hmmm. ;)

Stupid laws???...Well, how about this one: I live in Washington State. I can carry a fully loaded pistol (my 16 shot Glock 10mm for example) concealed (I have a permit), but I cannot even OWN a little ol' pocket knife ("automatic") that opens with the push of a button...Go figure...:(.

Cause if you were carrying that, you'd be carrying a deadly weapon  :barf:

Looks like I'm staying in NJ when I go camping during the summer.

CIVILIZED!! I haven't been civilized in years!! :D Never saw a need to be. I'll carry a knife where ever I f....king want to!!!

Jersey is such a weird state.... We have some of the strictist gun laws in the nation...Followed up by almost no restrictions on knives except switchblades and gravity knives... Thats right, no length restrictions, nothing against fixed blade carry... Go figure!

It seems to me that too many lawmakers are paranoid idiots. Probably got picked on a lot growing up!

Here's a quick story: One time, long ago, when beer cans still had pull tabs on them, my uncle killed a deer and then realized that he had forgotten his hunting knife. Fortunately he didn't forget his beer, and dressed out the deer using a beer pull tab that he sharpened on a rock!

Please post the citation for the rule prohibiting hunting knives. I went to the NYS Dept of Environmental Conservation, reviewed rules for campgrounds, and did not see anything about knives.

I think a good law would be to have ....neighborhood....storage bins for sharp tools. Could get a policeman to keep the key.

Need a shovel? Call a cop.
Need a rake? Call a cop.
Need a hoe? Call a pim...... no wait. Even MORE ....illegal.....activities.

Is there no END? WE NEED MORE LAWS!!!!!!

Send me a PM for address to send contributions to help our great cause.
