I am pretty new to BladeForums in general and CRK in particular so a basic question if you do not mine: Are there left-handed Chris Reeve fakes or are they all right-handed? Best I can tell, being a lefty has the advantage of not having to worry about copies. True?

Thanks in advance,

TLW

Welcome aboard!!!!
Don't have a clue if Lefty's are cloned, never thought about it until you just brought it up. I would guess no, based on there are not as many LH CRK's and the greater demand is for RH models.

I haven't seen any LH fakes. Either way they are easy to spot. I'm a lefty too but I got a RH one.

I have never seen one personally and I doubt they are being made, never say never though of course. To make a LH knife would mean having to change production set ups and I can tell you right now the pure scum that make these fakes and clones don't care about the customer in anthing like the same way that CRK does. :)

It's kind of like trying to prove a negative, but as best I can tell they aren't out there, so buying a LH CRK is sure to be authentic.

I think the fakes have gotten pretty good, at least from what I have read. I don't trust myself to be able to spot the fake, particularly on a version of CRK's work that I haven't seen before.

If you buy a CRK from a reputable dealer you really don't have to worry about getting a clone. Or you could purchase from Chris himself and remove all doubt. I waited 9 months when I ordered direct. It's worth it.

agree about buying from the dealer etc., but there are versions of knives that have been discontinued that you have to go elsewhere. My main reason for asking is buying off the 'bay.

Thanks for all the responses. Really liking this forum and website. Lots of great information.

I actually saw a fake lefty sebenza last year at a gunshow. It was one of the "good" fakes, with quality machining as well as fit and finish, however when I pointed out that the hardware was incorrect, along with the markings, the dealer was trying his damndest to get me away from his table. He must have been catering to lefties (which I am) because he also had wild boar strider clones in lefties, and a few lefty kevin john microtech DOC's and whalesharks. I laughed to myself because even though I, in NO WAY agree with ripping off other people's hard work, the microtech knockoffs were made with much better F&F than any of the real DOC's or whalesharks that I had handled before. In fact the lefty DOC's had, what looked to be unmarked ZT clips on them, which is much better than the first gen DOC clips as far as comfort goes. I will say that the microtech clones were not using fake microtech hardware though. Just standard Hex heads. I did not buy anything from him, and I tried to warn anyone else who seemed interested. The gun show was in Winston Salem NC incase anyone was curious where this was.

If you pay with paypal goods, which most of us use, and its proven fake, you get to "dispose" of the knife and recieve a full refund.
I watch and occassionally study pics from the fake sites closely to know what watch for.
I have not encountered a lefty but as the other poster mentioned, they are out there.
The only CRK birthcard I have seen is a shiny card stock unlike the flat matte cards CRK uses.
So far, they all have a born on date of January 31, 2013 and will be in older style box. Even a Sebenza 25 that never shipped in that style box.
