That's right, fellers! I done got lucky!
Actually, I've been deciding for a while between a standard HH and a MOASH to press into duty as a SH user. That process has been brought to a head by Stacy Puckett, who tells me that Dwayne is going to cut leather on my sheath order soon. That means I have to decide on which sheaths I definitely want.
The decision might seem like a no-brainer to some, but I wondered about the MOASH as a chopper because of its width and weight. That sucker is a full 5/16" if it's a millimeter and a little heavier than the HH (1 lb. 11 oz for the MOASH versus 1 lb. 6 oz. for the HH). I wanted to be sure before I started chopping.
Anyway today, I made my decision, set my jaw, and grabbed the MOASH. Took it out for a mild spin on three 2x4's, and it went through them like butter. Still shaving sharp afterwards, of course. I actually think I like the heft of this blade when it comes to chopping. All you gotta do is get it moving in the right direction, and it has some nice momentum when it hits wood.
Dwayne, those pants are coming soon, right?*
* Edited to add.... on second thought, maybe I should not mention lost virginity and ask Dwayne for my pants in the same post.
