and thats all there is! no knife just a box and sheath for 70 bux!
If it Sold PT Barnum will have been proven correct again...
 
strange, 17 bids. people with an 858OT that they want to put in sheath and box and sell as MNIB ? roland
 
I can understand where those bidders are coming from. When is the last time you saw the miniature Old Timer sheath from that era complete with box and I guess when are you likely to see one again? I believe it would improve the value of a mint knife by $70 to have the complete bling with correct sheath.I would have had a go but he only sells to US.I guess my more recent Schrade collecting has centered on complete original box sets and I feel it is all I will keep in the very long run as I'm running out of room. My wife reckons we have knives with ensuite house attached. Hoo Roo
 
I noticed that auction yesterday. The same guy has a number of other auctions of just boxes and sheathes. I almost put a bid in on one before I noticed there wasn't a knife in the picture anyway. I hope all the bidders (and there are a good number on a couple auctions) understand what they are bidding on and really want just the box and sheathes. I guess "buyer beware" and "read carefully" definitely applies here.
 
I can side with Larry on this one. In fact, I often look for boxes or tubes for mint knives I have. I've never seen one go for 70.00. I find orphaned boxes and sheaths inside hardware store cases every once in a when on a Schrade hunting trip, and they sure come cheaper that way.

On another note, the same buyer is currently bidding on an 858OT.

Well, he missed on the knife. Did not bid as much as he did for the box and sheath. :confused: (One penny less) It went for about $80.00. I guess more fish in the sea.
