I have seen a great watch but I have no disposable income due to the little bump in my wifeys tummy so do I sell my SHBM and buy the watch or keep hold of the SHBM and just enjoy the watches I have.

I never use the SHBM but it is my favourite and only remaining big blade !!

I could always buy an axe !!

Are you freakin' kidding?

Learn to tell time by looking at the sun. :D

you already said it yourself. its your favorite, KEEP IT! the watch will always be there.

Of course this thread posted here might as well have been called "convince me not to sell my SHBM"

If you went to a watch forum, you would get responses like "it is just a knife, watches rule".

KEEP THE SHBM!!! OR SELL IT TO ME!!!!:D  :D

I got a great watch from Wallgreens - cost me $20. It tells time real well.

I have never seen a SHBM at Wallgreens for any price. Nuff said.

You said the SHBM is your only big blade and you have a few watches.

Why is this so hard? Keep the blade and try to get by with the watcheS you already have.

If the bump is a son he would love to have the SHBM someday, more than another watch. And if the bump is a girl you will want to keep a big chopper around for when she starts dating!;)

Watches are great, but they do not hold their value like Busse's do!

Stick the SHBM in a stump and use it as a sundial. No one you know has an INFI time piece. GET REAL!!!!!!1

Keep the SHBM. I love watches but I would not give up my SHBM's.

what watch are you looking into.

Brendan,

Since I collect both watches and knives, I know what you're going though, so maybe I can help ya out.

I think it all depends on the watch. Is the watch limited? Can you wait until you have more funds or is this the last year of production or something similar. Why not sell some of your other watches?

IMO, I think it depends on which is easier to replace, since I'm assuming the best senerio is to have both :D :D Keep the SHBM and buy the watch later since it'll still be available in a yr when you have more $$$$ or....if it's easier, sell the knife, buy the watch and get another SHBM (assuming you can find one) later.

I guess the other thing to consider is what kind of watch is it? Is it a manual, automatic or quartz? Cause if it's a quartz of any kind, keep the knife...it'll last you longer. If it's an automatic or manual with a great movement the watch will probably last you longer.

Hope that makes it a little easier   ...probably not though :D

Brendan,

Just remember that if you do but an Automatic or Manual watch that they need regular servicing.
This service can be quite expensive depending on the watch make, model and number of complications.
INFI has a lifetime warranty and servicing only cost postage.
Long term the INFI will be the better investment.

Mulder quite true. High End watch service can be expensive. It's like owning a high end car. However, having said that, my Omega Seamaster pro is the best watch I have ever owned. I have not serviced it since I bougt it and looks and runs as good as new, for 10 YEARS

I think that you have been lucky to have gone 10 years with no service.
If it were mine I would probably have it inspected and serviced.
Better to service before problems arrise than after.
And for what it's worth I don't think that a Omega qualifies as high end.
Omega is more of a mid grade watch.
High end would be AP, Lange, Dubuis, Dufour, etc
Just my 2 cents worth.

IMHO, don't buy either because of the investment aspect. They are both poor choices in that respect.

Bottom line, get what makes you happy and what you like more. That's what it's all abt.

"The man who has only one watch knows what time it is. The man with more than one watch is never really sure."

I didn't service my IWC for about seven years and it was more accurate than many quartz watches I have owned.

Then I was bass fishing in Canada, flipped a canoe and spent some time in the lake. By the time I got out the watch was full of water. I think I had to put about $1,200 into getting it fixed.

So although they will work fine without service, all the seals may be gone and if you are as stupid as me…. it could end up costing a lot of money.
