no more 12C27?

i was reading on another board that some fella @ barmond has stated Sandvic has stopped making 12C27? wont this leave alotta knife manufacturers high and dry? im not real knowledgable when it comes to all the various bladematerials, but isnt 12C27 used in alotta traditional European knives? i can post the link, but im not sure if its ok to post a link to another board.

any thoughts? maybe im just late to the party and this is old news
