I just found out that Shomer-Tec is sold out of the Rat Trap and can't get anymore. What does this mean? Are they now collectors items?
 
I just ordered one from the source a couple days ago. I wonder how long it will take to arrive...
 
I got mine from Shomer-Tec last week, and posted about it all over the place. Probably all my fault :(
 
And I got a really nice note cancelling my order from the source...

Wait a minute...you got your RT from the Source in a week or so? Was that recently?

I ordered a RT and HR at the same time, I wonder if they'd send along the RT even if there weren't any HRs ready. And I wonder if they'd charge me double for shipping.
 
I ordered my RT folder back a little before thnksgiving. Got it in a week or so. Ordered from SwampRat order page. It is still listed there as of a couple days ago..
 
That is very interesting. I wonder if I'm going to find something waiting for me when I get home in a couple weeks.
 
I'm starting to get the feeling that the Rat Trap is less popular than the other models in the SRKW line. Any thoughts on this?

i dont think it sells as well as the other bigger knives, but it is still popular. I plan to get one soon. The only thing is am not a huge fan of liner locks but i think i will like this folder enought to get over it.
 
Almost everyone that I know that owns a Swamp Rat fixed blade also has a Rat Trap. :cool:

If you can't get ahold of a Rat Trap, I hear that the Busse folder is coming out soon.

Do a search here, if the search thing is working, for threads on the Rat Trap. Were a bunch of us grabbing them up back in the November time frame.

I love mine. It lives clipped in my back pocket and stays really nice and clean. Keep forgetting to take it out when the jeans get grabbed up for the laundry :rolleyes:

The one or two I have seen come up on ebay have gone for a little more than what they could have ordered one from SRKW for.

Far as the liner lock, the way the rear of the blade is angeled, the liner can't go all the way to the right side and mine locks up dead center. Has been really solid. The S30V has been super and easily touched to hair shaving sharp on my Lansky crock sticks.

I love the light weight of the RT. Only thing I have to compare it to is a large CRKT Crawford /Kasper that I got as a gift. The Kasper easily doubles the RT in weight, or so it feels. I haven't looked for stats or weighed them.

SRKW may as well leave off the black crinkle coating on the pocket clip. Mine is almost all worn off already. I believe some came without it.

Out of all the large folders I have, the RT gets carried daily.

Just some thoughts....
