no more restricted sales of the Matriarch?

I think that the restriction is voluntary and established by Spyderco. I would also imagine that the Knife Center was tired of having Matriarchs in their stock so they decided to get rid of them. (I don't know this for a fact) I don't think they have any more in stock however although their webpage is still showing them.
 
oh well, cant have those gang members and criminals running around with matiraichs. i guess drug sales arent profitable enough for a civilian or a chinook or a police or a military or a catcherman or a lum tanto.

id rather run into a gang member carrying a matriarch than a mac-10. hell, if spyderco want to do good PR then it should offer a buy back program. for any handgun you turn in, you get a free duce of matriarchs for righty and lefty carry.

i bet cops are real sorry that they lobbied and had those cheap knives and crappy .22 and .25 and .32 calubur weapons banned. now criminals need to use large calibur weapons from reliable manufacturers.

if i had the choice of being confronted with a mugger with a .22 that may explode after 3 shots with complete inaccuracy or a mugger with a .40 calibur sig i know which one i would chose.
 
I was bidding on a black one on Ebay, was outbid and got an email from a kind netzien pointing out that they were on sale @ knifecenter for less than what I was going to pay for the auction.

Was going to mention that they were on knifecenter, but wanted to wait until mine arrived.

On Friday I tried to order a Matriarch from Knifecenter and got back an email saying that they were "discontinued and unavailable." Has anyone successfully ordered one from them?

Ok, at home now. The Matriarch from <a href="http://knifecenter.com">knifecenter</a> is here. It's wicked badass. I'm glad I grabbed one.

Now, if I only got one of the BF natives when I had the chance.

On Monday 11/13 I checked out rec.knives and saw an ad from Knife Center about Matriarchs. I e-mailed them about their availability. On Tuesday 11/14 when I got home from work I checked if I had a response to my e-mail, when I did not I called them and ordered one over the phone. I had to convince my wife to let me get it. She said I could get it later for Christmas. I said I needed to act now and she could keep it until then as a Christmas present. It seemed like a mistake or something so I wanted to act quickly. It was almost like a dream since I could not believe my good fortune. She said OK. I ordered it. On Wenesday 11/15 when I got home from work Knife Center had e-mailed me saying they had one left in stock. I returned the e-mail saying I already ordered one. On Monday 11/20 the UPS truck drove up with a package from the Knife Center. My wife took possession of the package. I told her I had to at least check to make sure the treasure was safe and in one piece. So I opened up the box, removed the peanut shells, opened up another box marked Matriarch, removed the plastic wrap, opened up the knife, closed it, put it back into the box, taped the mailing box shut an my wife spirited it away until December 25th. I could not believe my good fortune. I checked e-Bay and saw the last two Matriarchs were sold for 104 and 86 dollars. My final bill was 64.95. Sorry for this long story as I do not want to sound too happy since I know how badly some guys want one. Earlier in August I had tried to order a Merlin from MJ&S but I never got it. I guess things worked out for me after all. I was going to order a CRKT Seahawk instead but now I don't.

The more I think about it the more I think Sal should let Bladefourm members get another shot at them. He has almost created a "black market" for them. I joked to my wife that I could sell the Matriarch and buy a Civilian even up. I know that it is not the street scum who are making bids on them on e-bay.
 
The price gouging on black Matriarchs being trafficked in the aftermarket would almost be funny if I actually had one.

I'd guess that 25% above MSRP is the standard asking price now.

I've been a cop for 21 years and I've never met any officers who lobbies for gun control much less knife control. I'd suggest taking a look at your politicians and legislators who need the photo ops to get elected/re-elected.

I've never been shot but my guess is that it's not any more fun to be shot with a .22, .25 or .32 than with a 9mm, .40 or .45. They're all equally lethal in the right (or wrong) circumstances.

would most police ratehr be fired at with:

sig saur .40 cal
or
lorcan .25 or a .22

getting shot would suck im sure, but your survival chances are better with crappy weapons in the other guys hands.

for every high quality gun turned in, police should give a scars tape, a 10 dolar folder and a lorcan .25.

get the good guns off the street and into my hands.
 
What is the MSRP on a new matriarch? I have never seen a offical price listed in print.
 
A little bit off the subject but I would have to agree with Memnoch... I carry a Glock 30 in 45 Cal. daily. I would not want to be shot at with any typ of gun 22, 25, or 45 but feel My chances for survial and return fire are much higher after being shot with a 22 than a 45but I respect the threat of any caliber equally... Just my 2 cents!
