Well I see the search facility has just been removed frome all the blade forums unless you are one of the gold , Dealer or knife maker paying members.

I am not impresed myself, I figure This business is already making money & they keep reducing ordinary peoples facilitys.

Without search this site realy has lost a lot.

Perhaps I will delete all my past posts as I dont think people should have to pay to read my opinions.

Whats your opinion?

I think it's only temporary, Spiral. It happened before, when the load on the servers got to be too much.
 
I love how people think this site makes money hand over fist. Spiral - this money loses money like I'm throwing it into a fire. The amount of money I've spent in the last year would have paid off a sizeable chunk of my mortgage, let alone a new car or other stuff. I'd be happy if we broke even, much less made money.

So, instead of thinking I'm trying to give you the shaft when I've already spent so much keeping this place open, how about you offer to lend a hand and help me out with the burden?
 
Rod, I think you already are. I think 'premium' is generic for 'Gold, KnifeMaker, or Dealer'
 
Aarvark, Thanks, I asked the question because as I understood it as a gold member you can post pics as an attachment but some folks post direct on the thread and I thought these must be premium members.
 
Just a thought presented in total ignorance of the "why" of this situation. Without the "search" function, it will take much longer on the site to locate information. I have no idea how that would figure into the decision-making.

And its not news that Spark does not operate this forum as a money-maker.

Peace, Spiral. You just weren't here the x other times Spark has had to point out that his $$ keeps this forum going. Viewed in that light, problems seem less critical. I guess one person's "old news" is someone else's "new news." I'd have you "search" for the other posts on that topic, but . . . . :)
 
Have been on the staff of other UBB's, where the amount of load searches pull was mentioned. It's hefty.

John (who was pulling his hair last night, trying to find Chainpurri info! 'Sokay, the right one has found me.)
 
Okay, I've been complaining (on other threads) about this, but I guess I can swallow it, if for no other reason that I was going to upgrade anyway.

Why did Kevin take away the ability for this little guy :rolleyes: to roll his eyes, though!!! Now he just looks stoned... :(

Edit: Nevermind, Netscape has just been playing with my prefs again...which I only noticed because pop-ups started happening again. Weird glitch. :confused:

Well Kismet, I reckon your right! In fact Id take money on it!

It wont be the first time nor probably the last!

Least this time round I probably wont get shot or stabbed! {fingers crossed} It gets a bit tedious eventualy.
