No more VG's for me

Okay everyone.

This is my last VG update. Dave is doing well, his computer is working perfectly and he can get online. Progress has been made in getting Dave's apartment organized and cleaned. (I wish my house was as clean....)

I am contacting Albert at Visiting Angels today and making arrangements for Dave to have a weekly visit from his assigned Visiting Angel. Dave will be taken shopping if needed, and cleaning and organizing assistance will be done. I have discovered a source of funding for the extra weeks so cleaning can be done. Dave knows the source, but it's not my place to mention that person here (not a forums member).

Since Dave will be posting in the forums again, I don't feel comfortable "reporting" on him. I'm not his mother or his tattletale person, just his friend. I will continue to go visit Dave at least once a month, if not more often, depending on time and finances (gas and hotel expenses).

Dave has email also, but it's up to him to give out his email address.

I want to thank everyone who has contributed to the VG Guardian Angels fund. And just a note - additional contributions are always welcome. There are little things/areas where I have been able to help Dave thus far because of the generous contributions that brought us above our minimum budget requirement for the Angels.

Your generosity just blows me away. You stepped up to the plate and put your money where your mouth is. You didn't just talk the talk. Geez, these cliches are bugging me.

Because of YOU, I was able to do what I did for Dave. What I will continue to do for Dave. I can't thank you enough.

This Angel is bowing out. Dave can step in.

And.......you embarrassed me (nicely) by your recognitions of my efforts. It was really sweet of you and I appreciate your words. I am not comfortable with praise, even when it feels good to get it. I do what I do because I can't NOT do it, if that makes sense.

Thank you for what you are doing for Dave. Thank you for the nice words you said about me.

Thank you again for being a befriending a good friend of mine. Dave couldn't ask for a better friend than you.l

Well, the Angels WERE on hold. Kristen worked 4-1/2 hours one day and did a lot. But I think she was a little weak-hearted and was all atwitter working around the notorious Vampire Gerbil. She called me the next day and said that her fiance forbid her to step foot in VG's place again - if she did she would have to pack her things and move out. What a jerk.

Kristen had no choice and all I could do was thank her for her help. She was paid for her time.

The next gal I talked to, who would have been excellent, wanted $60 for 2 hours. A little out of our budget.

That puts me back with the Visiting Angels. A lot of progress has been made during the past 3 weeks, so it should not be a big deal to continue with that progress if someone is there each week for a couple of hours.

Albert from Visiting Angels emailed me back and said he was out of the office all day but would be in all day tomorrow and he will call me. He said that would give us uninterrupted time to talk.

I am hoping that we can get the same Angel to visit Dave each week, so that they can get comfortable with each other and she will be able to see what needs to be done and keep up with it. Better than a new person coming in each week and having to play catch up with the game plan.

I think Kristen would have worked out great and we could have dealt with her fears of the giant rodent. But her fiance.........well, I can't tell you how I really feel about him.

Nice post Judy, but I'm sorry you can't retire.
You've shown us how to help VG, and VG can get online and tell us what's happening and if he needs anything. But, you and I know he won't. He needed everything you've done for him, but he wouldn't have asked for it. So, if you take yourself out of the mix, then we're back in the dark again. Sorry, no can do.

No, you're not Dave's Mom, and nobody wants you to be a tattletail, but you're our only onsite eyes. You gotta keep us informed, and he has to know that you can continue to make things happen for him. This way he'll never be in the position where he has to ask for help, but it'll be there if and when he needs it.

So Judy, nice try, but we can't let you out of this chicken outfit.
Did you really think Angels can resign when they feel like it?

I said that I was going to continue to go visit him every month or more often. I will still make sure that things are being taken care of and I will be his nag and friend.

But I won't post about him while he is online posting.

If things become such that Dave has a set-back and I need to call in the Calvary, you can bet I will be jumping right in here with an emergency thread and asking the VG Guardian Angels to step in.

Or, depending on the situation, I would ask Dave if it is okay for me to post about him. I just don't want him to think that every time he sneezes I am going to tell y'all about it.

I am NOT resigning. I am bowing out as Dave's spokesperson while he is able to speak for himself. Sheesh.

Give an Angel a break already.

Phil, and other VG Angels - I am still on the job, so don't worry. I have made reservations through February 2007 at the "Around the World Lodge" in Pahrump. Rates are the lowest in Pahrump, and it is a small lodge that just opened up a couple of weeks ago. Albert at Visiting Angels referred me.

Albert and I will be meeting with Dave on November 18th - my next visit. Together we will review everything with Dave as far as the weekly visits, what his needs are, shopping, errands, etc.

Albert agrees with me that a fixed day each week will be best instead of having Dave just call. I am hoping that having a fixed day each week it will provide Dave with something to look forward to each week and also help Dave plan his errands and shopping needs a little better.

We are scheduling 3 hours per week, because that works with the budget that the VG Guardian Angels have and also the additional $100 from the outside source. So we will be spending $200 per month, roughly. Oh, the outside source is sending the $100/month directly to me to be deposited in our account so only one payment will be made.

I'm still bowing out. But I am keeping up my commitment to take care of the funds and payments. And as VG's friend, I will be visiting him once a month at least - just to push him around if for no other reason. :D

Does this make you happy, Phil? huh? huh? huh? Did you really think that I would not continue to pay any attention to what Dave needs? That I would have spent all of this time and energy (not to mention my own money for gas and lodging) and then just walk away? I think not.

Sheesh. Give me a break. You guys just need to keep sending me money and I will keep spending it. Sends LOTS of money. I might buy Dave something with it once in a while.

Now if you can get those angels to clean this dump I live in I'd be even happier! :rolleyes:
