Hello everyone, just thought I would let you all know I will not be testing for MS this year. There are numerous reasons but the main one Like Phillip and the JS is the knives are not living up to my expectations. At least for next year the hardest one is almost done, so 2009 is a definite. I wish all the MS and JS candidates the best of luck and look forward to shaking your hand at the show.
See everyone in Atlanta.

Hey Buddy Boy, we can sweat together, cause I'll be there too. I saw that I could not do it justice in 08. I had too many obligations and will have more in 09, but I have a plan worked out.
You can put me on speed dial, because Diane and Kay are going to get tired of all this for another year.

Sorry to hear you don't get to go for it this year, but next year gives more time and probably a wee bit less pressure as you've got more time to work on them now.

Sorry to hear, Brion, but knowing you the knives you make next year will be nothing short of exceptional, and I'm sure you'll have no problem passing in '09.

Brion,
It's good to know that the standards you keep for yourself are so high. You don't need an M.S. stamp to be a "Master Smith" Brion.

Aldo

PS- I'm still buying you a beer in Atlanta!!

Brion,

When all is done, going for your MS is mostly for you. It is, or should be, a measurement you do for yourself, to mark your own progress.

Deciding for yourself when you are ready, when you have the time to do what you want, is absolutely the right way to go. Besides, now you can obsess about the knives for another year!

Looking out for you and Diane at Blade.

John
